    Hi

I ordered a Canon EOS 500D from pixmania and received it yesterday. It did not come with an english manual however. I have found it online but would much prefer a paper version, just wondering am I entitled to get one or am I wasting my time? Thanks

The time and hassle it would take to get one would cost you more than just using the online one.

I don't think there is any entitlement to a manual in an specific language. You could contact Pixmania though and ask for one.

Most user manuals come in multiple languages now, so it's strange that they would have printed it in one specific language only.

I thought so too. They came in a pack inside it along with the CDs and all that, there 4 manuals: Italian, Deutsch, Nederlands and Francais. No english which is strange

    Its Normal,
All the stuff here in Holland comes in Dutch, German, Italian and French.

Depends what market its for, less paper also means less weight = lower shipping costs.

I presume there was a charger for the batter with it? If so, what kind of plug was on it? It is illegal to sell an electrical appliance with the wrong type of plug fitting (or without the appropriate adapter). Maybe they sent you the wrong model, sending a European one when you should have received the UK one.

There is something about providing the instructions in a language of the country you are in but afaik this can be a link to the website with the manuals in PDF form for you to download. There was a similar thread some time ago and it was also about pixmania.

There is however some law covering having the safety instructions in the language of the country so the safety/electrical instructions and certificates of conformity getc should be in English at least.

No harm in e-mailing them and ask them for one.
