Setting up your own Broadband modem

Guys, the following LINK may be helpful - http://bit.ly/joGnIv

In the case where you are using a 3rd party modem rather than an eircom supplied one (e.g. you have availed of the eircom ‘use your own modem’ promotion), there are certain steps that you need to take to ensure your modem works correctly on the eircom network. The steps differ slightly depending upon the modem you are using, please click on the link ABOVE to see which steps are appropriate to your modem. If your modem isn’t listed above, then you will need to ensure that it supports PPPoE (Point to Point over Ethernet), and enter the correct settings shown below.

    Username eircom@eircom.net
    Password
    broadband1
    Encapsulation
    PPPoE
    Multiplexing
    LLC Based
    VPI
    8
    VCI
    35
    Primary DNS
    159.134.0.1
    Secondary DNS
    159.134.0.2

For details on how to configure your modem with these settings, please refer to your modem’s setup guide (usually found in the support section of your modem manufacturer’s web page).

You should make a sticky thread with this info in it. It's very handy information.
