    2006 Aygo, C1 or 107

Looking at picking up one of these this weekend. Any people with experience of them on here.

The t'internet says that they suffer from the following.
    Items listed as common fault:

    Clutch Failure every c.30kmiles
Leaking Door/Boot Seals i.e. damp interior etc.
    Boot Lock Sticking
    Water Pump

Anyone suffer from the above or have direct experience of the car

I've had two in with seized water pumps over the last few months as well....

I don't know about the others but I definatly haven't come across the clutch issue. The toyota engine and box thats in them is the same as that used in the heavier yaris.

No, its acually the simplest water pump I've ever had to change:)

The wife has a Toyota IQ with the same engine and box and there is nearly 25k on it without a hiccup yet. The problem with the aygo/107/c1 is that they are all cheap french car. Only the engine itself is from Toyota.

Yes, a 3 cylinder Daihatsu design, same as the Sirion.

I don't think there's much French DNA in any of these cars, they are all Czech built, and the mechanicals Japanese designed. The 107 and C1 were affected by Toyota's sticky accelerator recall, for example.

The 1.4 diesel available elsewhere is a Citroen/Peugeot job, also seen in the Fiesta and Mazda 2, but we don't get that here.

They feel cheap not because they are French, but just because they really are cheap. An iQ costs €4K more for a similar sized car (and that's 40% extra!)

They're all the same car so doesn't matter which you get. As said previously, the water pump is simple to change as its not ran off a timing belt.

The boot lock thing isn't a big deal either, just a sticky button.

And by the looks of it, the most troublesome part of those cars is the Japanese part of it;)!

To the OP - since they're all exactly the same car bar a few cosmetic differences, I would buy whatever is cheapest.

From having had a quick look on Carzone, it looks like the C1 is the cheapest of the lot, followed by the 107, with the Toyota unsurprisingly being the most expensive.

The delusion of the average Irish motorist never fails to amaze me!

A colleague was about to buy an Aygo a couple of years ago, and I mentioned to him that they were all built together in Czechland. After a bit of Googling to confirm, he bought a same year, same spec 107 instead and saved €500!

Sounds good yeah i'm leaning towards a C1

Anyone who has put descent miles up on them trouble free, they do seem to suffer from clutch and leaky seals problem but would like to hear first hand regarding the relaibility

My friend rented Citroen C1 with 1.0 engine for whole weekend and i've got to admit that it's great car if you need something to the town, engine is strength enough and accelarate this small car realy fast, there is also space inside for 4 adult people of course if you ride no longer than 1 hour because it may be tiring : )

The diesel sounds great, being so light it should go forever. Pity you can't get them here. I here all these were designed to be easy to maintain, with as few screws, nuts and as little labour as possible.

I debating replacing my runabout a K11 micra which needs a bit of work, with something like the Aygo/C1 etc.

yeah the 1.4 would be good be cant imagine it would alot better MPG than the 50-60mpg that the petrol is supposed to give then you have all the diesel issues thrown in

I'm looking at a couple around 29k-40k on the clock, which according to reports is no problem for 1.0 vvti engine

Higher tax and insurance too. 1.0 might better overall. Probably simpler and less frequent servicing.

Well keep in mind that the K11 micra is simply one of the most reliable super minis ever made so unless its got major body work or engine issues then I'd repair a K11 rather then replace it with any modern small car.

Nothing Major tbh. I wish people would stop denting it though.
