I'm looking forward to finding out what chants the Hearts fan are belting out, Sky commentators don't seem massively impressed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

Celtic fans were just chanting 'I-I-IRA,I-I-IRA'. Bunch of mindless cretins the lot of them in Scotland.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

Pretty sure it was after the manager was attacked and the Hearts fans started chanting. It was the Hearts fans the Sky commentators seemed annoyed with at least to begin with. Open to correction on that.

How Dare you....you know Celtic fans never ever ever chant aything like that. It's always those Huns ya have to look out for, not those lovely lads in green and white

OT but why are they called 'huns'?

obviously it was after the fan ran on but thats no excuse, blind following the blind.

Sky and ESPN should drop Scottish football and let it drop into obscurity.

    Are you kiddin??

Those bast*rds will probably pay double for Scottish games now there's a risk of some dude eventually getting offed on the touchline.

I'v heard IRA chants, Jim jefferies is apparently an orange you know what with a crap team apparently. Will this get reported? Disgraceful scenes in this game with the fan and the sectarian chants.

Fighting broke out between the two sets of fans, you could the IRA chants on sky but they only started after the "fan" was dragged away from the pitch. Also dont forget Hearts are the Rangers of the capital.

Got to wonder why there were not extra cops stewards at the dug outs following recent events.

Some reports is that there are Rangers fans in the crowd, which would not surprise me as they came to the Gretna V Derry game in Motherwell to try and get a reaction from the Derry fans

Bit of a difference between a chant and physically harming someone...

Anyway I dont see what this has to do with Rangers FC, for once, so please remain on topic before this thread goes quickly even more down the pan.

I've just begun watching the match online - the Hearts 'fans' are singing "the Famine's over, why don't you go home".

    Horrible little Edinburgh-Rangers, bigoted bastards.

Same goes for the Celtic fans singing the RA song.

I'll leave this open as long as it remains talking about this particular incident. If it starts getting into general discussion about religion/bigotry/'they started it' like it usually does it will be locked.

Did the punch connect? Can't really make it out on my phone, how did Lennon react?

Oh get a grip stop trying to lay this on Rangers fans

I was at the Derry game and saw what I saw

Neither. What is the point of these scenes? Just play the game, support your teams and thats it. This is shaming scottish football.

Seems strange to me, what have Hearts fans got against Lennon, bar the tag they have of being the Protestant club of Edinburgh and Hibs the Catholic one I cant see one.

Can anyone shed any light. The rivalry isnt really that strong is it.

I suppose in hindsight like some have mentioned it could have been a Rangers fan. But its more likely its just some Hearts bigot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Not surprised to see the mask finally slip off Hearts fans. I've been to a few Hibs games against them and they've a Lot of fans who are cut from the the same cloth as many of Rangers extremist fans.

Not really, the fella kinda jumped into the punch and obviously didn't connect because Lennon stayed up while he fell to the deck. The security held Lennon back.

Any club with fans on the pitch should have a stadium ban. Its clear they can not guarantee the safety of the players/management. I dont care if its to attack somebody, to celebrate with your team or to throw a scarf or season ticket to somebody, the protection of the players and management overides anyone in the stadium. Im always banging on about Monica Seles. There could of been another incident like that.

    Seriously?

I never condoned it, but I would be more worried about a mans safety than some chants, however wrong the chants are.

Sticks and stones can break my bones, etc.

My point really is Celtic fans cry foul when songs are sang about the famine and fenian blood etc but they think it's ok for them to chant.

I never said you did not condone it but then Celtic cant complain about others singing about them

I agree with that physical violence is worse but it is all linked. The chants don't help and are offensive. The guy who tried to attack Lennon is a disgrace.

    Agreed. 5 matches imo.

Harsh or not I dont care, even if its harder to implement at SPL games. I've always thought this day would come though when players/managers get attacked.

How long before some nutter does serious damage.

All that proves is there were morons on both sides in the ground. One does not excuse the other.

Still does not make it right though does it....

Dont get me wrong in way I dont blame the Celtic fans but this is doing the club no good in long run and letting the biggots win

A Celtic manager is physically attacked on the pitch and that's your response?

If I called you a mindless cretin then I'm sure I'll get a ban so I won't call you it.

cant believe people arent a bit more vocal about this.... Thats a savage hole in security especially given the recent problems Lennon has been having. Thats very worrying indeed. Hope they throw the book at the "fan". Some weird line was crossed there and needs to be dealt with harshly

From the point of view of an Englishman, this season and all the goings on will hopefully have finally put to bed the argument for scottish teams in the english leagues.

Please don't bring any of them and their baggage anywhere near us thank you!

    What's this thread about?

It's about a manager getting attacked yet you decide to railroad it and start talk about something that has NOTHING to do with Lennon getting attacked.

You want to talk about other things then start a thread about them, this is about Neil Lennon getting attacked yet again, you got anything to say about that incident?

are you Lennons mother? The op stated what happened and most of the sensible people in this thread have talked about what happened since. Yet you come in and mouth at anyone not mentioning him. Makes no sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

OT but why are they called 'huns'?

    Because they are Rangers-fans.
At least that's what some would have you believe 'Huns' means.

As for those claiming the IRA chants only started after that guy came on the pitch and after some chants from the Jambo's, that's not what I heard.
Whistle blows to get the game underway, and off the tims go with their 'Irish' songs.

edit: That guy will never get into a football ground again, and rightly so, what a dick.

if you read my posts you will have seen how i described the chanting as the blind following the blind, thereby infering that the hearts clown was a blind moron. get a grip and calm down a touch. Im not railroading anything.

As much as you dislike someone, would you really take never being allowed to go to a football game again just to take a rubbish, clumsy swing at them?

itll be interesting to see how the sfa handle this. youd be thinking a season long ban on bringing fans to away games and a minimum of 5 games behind closed doors at home anyway

home bans would definitely make clubs address these problems as they wont be able to financially afford not to.
