I want to mount this type of aerial in the attic, is there any kind of a fixing kit I could get (preferrable with aerial adjustment) It will be mounted vertically.

B&Q and Maplin's sell a loft mounting kit which should do the trick. Tis a bar about 18" long with a fixing unit to attach it to a rafter and you use the aerial's own attachment to fix to the bar. Sinch really. Best of luck setting it up. If you don't have saorview already you will be delighted with the better picture quality.

Something like this is available - http://www.aerialsandtv.com/onlinepolesandbrackets.html#LoftKits. They don't ship to Ireland but will give you an idea what to search for.

If you already have the aerial, Maplin do a light weight wall mount with fixings and 15m of sat grad cable for about 20euro.

I've used a spare Sky dish mount in an attic for one of those (tvtrade.ie about 7 or 8 euro) - it was cheaper than the 'attic' aerial mounts sold in B&Q and much sturdier! I've also used the B&Q one.

You probably already have everything you need lying around your home; string, cable ties, nails etc.

You might even find that the best spot for signal in your attic will not permit the fitment of a mounting kit, even with modification, while still allowing for correct alignment of the aerial.

a piece of 2x1 about 500mm long couple of nails and a few cable ties will do..

EDIT :-If its for yourself.. :)

DIY works best for me in an attic. String tied from rafters for the heavier aerials or else some sort of wooden pole and screws etc. Grid aerials can often be hung with cable clips if the aerial is pointing perpendicular to the tiles/slates of the house.

I've also had good use with satellite brackets as already mentioned though they're often best for yagis like what's in the picture of the first post. Grid aerials tend to be bulkier and can't point in every direction. The beam which the bracket is fastened to, gets in the way of grid aerials or the larger yagi aerials.

Received the Grid Aerial on Monday and set it up on Tuesday. No problems. Didnt mount the aerial, just left it leaning against one of the beams. Picture seems to be perfect so have cancelled sky now.

    Thanks for all the help
