If Obama or the Queen visited without any extra security

If they just walked off a plane and rented a car for the few days, met the mayor and all such people in a normal pub, then took a stroll around Dublin the next day. Just like anyone else if they came to Ireland

What about driving around the country? would Lizzy even know how to drive since she never had to in her life? Obama is probably a bit rusty behind the wheel too although he did drive that Chevy Volt hape of shyte for about 10ft inside the GM factory.

What are the chances of them getting out without injury or anything major going wrong? I'd say the queen is more hated around here and Obama seems like a decent lad who would manage alright if anyone hecked him

Surely 25 million is completely overkill for protecting one person when they come to visit for a few days. Why dont we say to hell with all this expense since we're broke and tell them to do without their bodyguards and what have you

She was a truck driver during World War II.

And to have them wander around without extra security would be madness. There are always crazy would-be assassins out there.

Lizzy is well able to drive. Probably knows more about servicing trucks and jeeps then you or I.
She worked as a driver during WWII and would have learned the skills of a mechanic too

Don't underestimate her Majesty. She has outlived many and still going strong. Truck driver and all.

Honour the soldiers, not the leaders

    Come on now.
How am I to know what gearboxes existed in the the 1940's.
Most mechanics in Ireland or the UK could not answer that

    Your quote was

All I pointed out was she worked as a driver in WWII and she was trained as a mechanic.

And even with modern technology and her advanced age, she still probably knows her way around under a jeep bonnet.

I was surprised so many people even knew what she was up to during WWII, now if someone knew the exact vehicles she drove and what happened to them it wouldnt surprise me.

can just imagine some old lad on the antiques roadshow who spent years polishing up an ould truck saying 'the queen drove this, you know mate?'

was reading a thing about preselector gearboxes today and very little information out there about how they work but they're fascinating yokes
