Ive a swift premier 6-24X50 at the minuit with a fine retical which is not suitable for shooting under a red light because the retical is too hard see. What scope would be good for shooting under a red light?

The scope is perfect lad, its just the recticle is not suitable for lamping. A dealer is offering me a straight swap for a hawke nite eye. What would it be like out to 250 yards?

Sorry I must be getting you mixed up.

I know poulo had a hawke scope on his tikka but not sure what model.
He has shot out to 500 yards with it.
He might be on later and will be able to exactly what he thinks.

I have a Hawke Night Eye 3-9 X 50 I have it on a .223 , its great has 5 red and 5 green illumination settings and a mil-dot recticle. Ive no problem dropping foxes at 200 yards, Id like a bit more magnification but its crystal clear so it doesnt really matter because I rarely go past 200yds

poulo has a side winder on his .223 and a nite-eye on his .22, the side winder seems like a great scope and i thought it was great aswell when i used it, and he's happy with his nite eye aswell but i hated mine, never held zero for me and i found the eye relief fussy on it, but maybe i got a bad one

a ZOS 6x24x50 mill dot about e240 or a bushnell banner 6x18x44 around e200 both very good scopes for night shooting for the money.

If you want a scope suitable for lamping whilst on a budget you need something with a thick crosshair

Ive seen a few budget scopes with illuminated crosshairs and its like a lightforce with a red filter shining out of the eye piece

To get a really usable illuminted crosshair then you really have to spend the money but under normal lamping conditions then a thick crosshair will do the job

Sorry i cant be more helpful
