    Hi all,

I need to bring a car down to Barcelona and I was wondering what was best way to do so?

Is there any Irish companies that will transport it down as freight or should I be looking at driving it down myself?

    Many thanks.

Rosslare / Pembroke / Plymouth / Santander and drive the rest

Driving there you can either go via the north coast of France by taking the Irish Ferries service from Rosslare to either Roscoff or Cherbourg and then drive from there or head over to the UK (Rosslare to Pembroke or Fishguard) and take the Brittany Ferries service from Plymouth to Santander or Bilbao which would mean considerably less driving but last time I checked the ferry from England to the north coast of Spain was very expensive for a car.

Just drive. You might get a bit wet, so bring plenty of towels.

It might be worth giving NVD a call they do transport to some European countries, not sure if they go down to spain though.

Driving down there is no real ordeal either, Myself and the OH went down there through France last year. Took 3.5 days and had a great time but some might be up for all that travel!!

Rosslare to Fishguard landbridge across UK and ferry across the channel, drive on down through frogland.

I'd drive it, love road trips.
Use this to calculate cost http://www.viamichelin.com/web/Routes
Take the Cork - France ferry to avoid UK. And you can sleep on the boat so will start fresh.

Thats a brutally expensive ferry, even with fuel and lower ferry costs sailing from Ireland via the UK would probably be cheaper, I can't see that ferry service lasting much longer tbh.

I presume it is a nice car - if you are bringing it from Ireland. What kind/type of car is it?
It it a gas guzzler? If it were a decent car I would drive, depending on the cost of course.
Get the cost of the boats, and travel on the other side and then call the transport companies. If the difference was marginal, shipping would save a lot of hassle but you would miss out on the fun factor.

I drove from London to Denia (South of Barcelonda). By maybe around around three or fours cant remember 100%, prob less though.

Left Paris arrived in Denia 11 or 12 hours later. Continous driving.

Set cruise control at 100mph, Poliza dont care.
Just remember you will be filling the tank alot.

Oh and the tolls are rather expencive, i remember one being 78 euro I think.

Depends how used you are to driving longer distances, but from Cherbourg to Barcelona is about 1330km, which can be done in about 12 hours driving if you are lucky not to be delayed anywhere.

Drive to Rosslare, take a ferry to Cherbourg on which you can have a proper sleep and rest, and most likely you will be able to get to Barcelona in one go after that.

Also factor in about €150 in French road tolls also.

Export freight from Ireland is quiet . I reckon you could get that car delivered to Spain for 1250/1500 euro. there would need to be a ramp somewhere to unload it.

    Pm me ,if interested

Driving it would be cheaper than that.

Are you selling it to someone? Saw a scam like this before...

    1500 euro????

Cost of petrol and motorway tolls from Cherbourg to Barcelona would be about 200 - 250 euro depending on fuel consumption.
Ferry with sleeping cabin about 130.
Add to it cost of getting to Rosslare from wherever it's coming from (assume max 50), and cost of flight from Barcelona back to Ireland (another 50).
Some food on the way + little expanses like a bus or train to - from airport, and you can easily close the whole cost in 500 euros.

Plus you would have it there in a 3 days rather than a few weeks by boat.

Perhaps for all we know the OP's time is more valuable than the cost! If the car is Automatic I'll drive it down for you for free if ya want providing you'd cover the expenses! ;)
