Don't bail out the PIIGS

I am a Northern European man. Were I'm from people are rational and we have never been bailed out by the IMF. It makes me upset that my tax monies goes to bail out lazy people who only sit in the sun and drink wine all day.

Where I'm from people get up early to go to work and we don't get to retire until the age of 67. Why should decent folks such as myself have to pay for this party?

I did try the whole sun sitting and wine drinking all day thing once. I was pished after the first bottle and a half, only to fall asleep and wake up an hour later to find myself severely sunburned and trouserless as a donkey had eaten them (at least I think it was a donkey). It just impossible to do I tells ya.

As long as you stay true to your conscience you should vote however you wish. Although if they get into power and implement some racist policies you dislike, you will be partially responsible. Just remember that.

It devalued it currency overnight in the 90s essentially "burning the bondholders" to get itself out of the mess they were in!

I assume you're talking about bank bondholders who are being refunded for gambling and losing, with public money that they have no entitlement whatsoever to. If this is the case, I agree 100%. Bailout funds, if they must even exist at all, should go to people who actually deserve them. Not to private companies which can't accept that when you screw up, you lose and you deal with it.

What bailout? The last time I checked, we were paying a huge premium on the loans we are getting.

The only bailout I can see is the one being paid for by Irish taxpayers to bail out Northern European banks who invested indirectly in the Irish property market.

It isn't a bail out like a boss or pal giving you a sub to next week, countries have to borrow this money and there's a chance it mightn't be paid back. Britain and Scandinavian countries are bailing us out because we can't access the international markets so they are bailing us out.

Technically and in reality it's a bail out unless people think they should get no interest for it.
