The Mens Health cover model competition is on again this year.

I was thinking about it. Not sure. I read Men's Health years ago but then copped on that it was all the same stuff and you could get better info on the net. So not sure if I could fake the men's health inspires me story.

Rules
1. You must state you do a lot of cardio 'for balance'
2. You must state that you eat a lot of carbs 'for balance'
3. Insert MH inspirational story here
4. We'll deny it later but mingers not allowed regardless of how awesome your torso is.

I think it's something good to train for over the next few weeks, little bit of cutting and some good snaps and you never know!

A lad from Northern Ireland won it years ago. I can't remember his name.

Neil McT also from up North - He posts here the odd time - tried to win it for years and got very close.
They never gave him the prize but gave him a job instead.

I always assumed these lads were on the juice, theyre always shreaded and fairly big. some of their weights and measurement sound ridiculous at times. lads looking about 12 stone and their height is 5,10" but their stats weigh in at 14.5 stone with 7% bodyfat etc. I dunno them english lads love their juice and sunbeds and all that. is it all natural ya think???

I suppose theyre in a minority alright, they make me sick some of them, they're in great oul nick, da bast*ards. there was some lad on the UK apprentice last nite from northern ireland and in a suit he looks nothing, but he's supposed to be in american Psycho territory when it comes to shape. you see it later on i think.

One of the T&C's of it is that you complete a drugs test so I would imagine that this elimates juice heads?

I don't think i have the personality to match my physique for entering something like that. I'm big, very ripped at around 8% body fat and of Mexican descent so i have all the tools to be a cocky poser and probably what they are looking for. But it's just not me and my mates would never let me live it down if i entered and won given how modest i am. So i wouldn't even bother.

Yeah it's an annual event between UK and ROI.

I'm single figure body fat too and not in bad shape at the min so I might do it myself.

No idea whether they're natural or not, but you definatly don't need steroids to look like a mens health cover model. They're not really that big.

yeah but you need to have a good face too, there's always lads in great shape who dont make the cut because "their look" wasnt up to snuff. the UK guys are worse than women some of them, for eyebrow pucking, spray tans and teeth bleaching. just send in a video of yourself beside a mirror in cowboy boots and a stetson, repeating "are you talkin a me?, im the only one here, you talkin ta me"?? whilst chewing a toothpic!! ha ha ha ha ha ha in pink aussiebums!!!:D

I don't have a camera handy so I can't take any new snaps. Legs are fine, I don't neglect them. I think I am slightly less cut than I was a month ago (exam time, less worried about diet ), and since the sixpack is king on men's health I might have to cut up some more til June before I send in pics. Good lighting does help I suppose

What's your height/weight? I presume you'd need to supply them with a full body shot also, there are lots of guys with 6 packs, I'd say they're looking for the physique to go with it.

You'd need to get professional shots done for it I'd think too.

Ah right fair enough. Got the wires crossed there. I am not sure, I haven't read the requirements. Just looking at the last years entrants and the most important thing I saw was obliques and abs. Shame there isn't also a focus on the wheels!

fair play to you man and you never know unless you try so give it a go and i am sure there are a few amateur photographers here on boards that would do a few photos for free as part of a portfolio

I think the creatine I am taking is contributing to the water retention . You can't see it from the pics but there is some serious veinage going on in my arms, so I agree that it might have to do with water as well (or just a bit of excess fat ). Thanks for the article. Reading it now.

cheers and the pics may not need to be pro but they will look a hell of alot better with someone that knows what they are doing with a camera.

Again best of luck with it and its not about being shreaded as you are not looking to be a bodybuilder for a contest - the mens health look is one 99% of guys want and its more fit looking, not too big, not too small and still able to turn heads.

I am sure there are many others that could throw their hat in the ring for this and would give plenty of people some focus for their training
