Problem with Performa 28

    Hi,

I know nothing about heating systems but the boiler in the place im renting, which is a Performa 28 boiler mounted on the wall, has recently stopped heating the water. When I turn on the boiler, a light flashes to indicate 'flame failure'. However, the landlord had a plumber call around who said that the gas has been cut off from the apartment and it will resume working as normal once I pay my bill etc... He didnt even bother taking a look at the boiler.

However, I am wondering if all these boilers are gas powered as I was always under the assumption that the boiler was powered off the electric. I say this because out flat never had a gas bill delivered to it in the 8 months we've been here while the electricity bills have always been high [im with ESB, not Bord Gais]. Therefore it would seem a bit weird for the gas to have been suddenly cut off in May after having been supplied since the end of August.

Is it possible you have been using a immersion on the hot water cylinder to heat the water and that's broken, rather than the gas boiler.
