Random - How often do you guys wash/change your clothes?

Okay, it's kind of weird but I am just curious. How often do you guys change your clothes and do the laundry?

I live with a couple of guys and after a week, the big laundry basket is already over flowed, and the washer basically gets beaten up because it has to handle doing more than 5 loads... I know it's bad. I personally just wear the same thing once especially for work, because I find it kind of creepy to wear the same shirt and tie for work. Plus I have to change from school clothes to work clothes.

So, how often do you guys wear and/or wash your clothes?

Mother does the laundry and the girlfriend changes my clothes so you'll have to ask them.

Well I shower every day & wear a fresh, clean set of clothes. I assume that's what most people do.

EDIT: I did share a house with a complete dirtbag a few years ago. I never saw him washing sheets or towels. He washed his work clothes about twice a month, keep in mind he's a tyre fitter/ mechanic/ works in an oily environment.
The smell out of his room was unreal.

Socks are good until you need to buy a new pair. Underpants last a few weeks before other people can smell them. Everything else when I spill something on them.

About 3 washs a week and I've plenty of clothes to choose from so changing into fresh stuff is never a problem ...

    T-shirt
    boxers
    socks
    trousers
    everyday

    jumpers
    every 2-3 days,

depend on activitys etc.... if exercising, spill somthing on them, stains etc.. I will wash everything and it could be 2 sets a day.
but the one jumper will do me 2 or 3 days of just lounging around ie. sitting at home after work.

Socks are good until they can stand up on their own and undypants are good until you notice a colour change and think someone else owns them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

fresh socks, undies & t-shirts daily, jeans/slacks last a few days tho.

shower daily before work, not always every weekend day tho if we're not going out and might re-use a t-shirt for 2nd day if lazing at home un-showered that day, but would shower & change if i left the house.

really bugs me having smelly unwashed feckers waft their stench past me when i'm out and about, do they not know water is free in ireland?

It's much simplier to throw them against the wall, when they stick it's time to consider washing them

I'd wash all my shirts at the end of the working week. In between probably two or three washes to take care of the rest.

Socks or underwear, once or twice a day.
    tshirts - once a day.
Everything else: If it looks clean and does not smell I'll wear it.

That really sucks to have lived with a dirt bag haha! If someone in my house doesn't wash their clothes after a few weeks, I'll just wash it for them because it's either that, or deal with the stench.

    Clean clothes every single day.

I'll wear a pair of jeans a couple of times before washing them though. If you wash them too often you'll ruin them.

And in most places it's potable water too.

Back in the 80's when they tried to introduce some such chages in Dundalk they painted a red X on the mains of customers who were to be cut off. So people just painted red X's on all the junctions.

    Socks, boxers everyday
shirts/ t-shirts/Polo shirts every two days
Get a week out of jeans usually.

I have lots of clothes so can easly go a week or more without needing to do a wash. I usually bring them home to be washed too as I'm not a fan of doing it and I'm useless at ironing :pac:

i generally throw my boxers out when they resemble neapolitan ice cream

I only have 1 pair of jeans so they never really get washed, maybe once every 4 months or so but jeans don't really get dirty and they don't smell so...

As for my boxers it depends. I usually wait until there are skidmarks and white stains on the front before washing / changing them.

Sometimes if I am feeling really lazy I turn the ol boxers inside out and get twice as long out of them. I wear the skidmarks on the outside if you know what I mean.

I am getting lazier & lazier as I get older u see.

Everything gets washed once it's worn for a day! Sometimes I might be crazy and wear a jumper for two days as long as it doesn't smell!

Plus I will prob go home later and throw on a jersey and laze about the house. Chances are I will then wear that jersey to football tomorrow night.

Fresh clothes every day, pants I would wear a few times before washing. Shirts and anything that would require ironing I send to the laundrette. Usually throw a load into the washing machine every 10-15 days.

I only have one outfit. But I have about 70 sets of that outfit so it looks like I don't change my clothes. Chicks dig it.

If I wear something for a day I was it. Unless it's something delicate, like a lacy top or summit, then i'll drag it out for about 3 wears provided it didnt get dirty!

    Socks, underware & t-shirt - Daily
Trousers and Jumper - every 2/3 days

Underwear and socks I would change every day. A tshirt I might wear for two days before putting it in the wash, or else if it gets dirty. Jeans I might only wash once in a while, if they get really dirty. As for washing - I do a big wash every Sunday. Anything more than that is just being wasteful with electricity.

If I break a sweat..change them if not then keep going until they fail the smell test

What happens if you have a cold and a blocked up nose? The clothes should fail the 'smell test' but because of your illness you actually pass them.....to the detriment of everyone you encounter that day :(

Or is there a panel of people who conduct the smell tests?

OP - usually about once a month, but if I'm lazy it can be every quarter.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

I change underwear (that is boxers, socks and t-shirt/undershirt!!!) every day.

Jeans I might get 2/3 days out of.

    Hoodies/rugby jersey/tops 2 days out of them.

Shirts/polo shirts/polo necks, I'd get one wear out of them usually.

I do at least 1 load of washing a week.

Really shocked at people only wearing clother for one day and that's it.

Underwear gets one day, everything else lasts until it smells or I spill something on it.

I have a lot of underwear and a tonne of t-shirts so I put on a wash once every 2 weeks. I'm environmentally friendly.

I agree especially for things like jumpers and hoodies etc, no reason not to get loads of wear out if these between washes. They are not in direct contact with skin and they are probably hanging on the back of a chair most of a day anyway.

No reason not to get two days out of a shirt/polo shirt etc too imo if your just sitting in the office etc.
