Have you lived in hunters wood long? It's a regular enough occurrence to hear it and the odd time it hovers about the place for a while, odd as the area is quite nice. The last time it was overhead for an extended period there were about 8 or 9 Garda cars and vans gearing up to head into the halting site in ballycullen. Unfortunately one of the main roads up to viewpoint and Sally gap from rathfarnham, firhouse, knockoyon and tallaght is right behind hunterswood so if there's a stolen car going for a joy ride it'll be heading up that way :(

Ballyboden/Firhouse is about five minutes flying time from their base. Training mission. Bruv, met them at the airport once. 'So you're the guys hovering over my house at one in the morning'. 'Yeah, everyone says that' was the reply.

Remember too that the M50 is close to all those areas. Bang, crash someone hits someone else, the chopper is overhead. Dublin is pathetically small in reality.
