    Hi Folks.

How old must a child be to get a PPS number. The application form for FIS requires a PPS number for the child as well as the Parents.

How do you get the number???

    Cheers.

pop into your local SW office and they will give you the childs PPSN number. i presume you are getting child benefit in respect of this child.

If the Kids are born in Ireland, they would normally be given a PPS number at birth, certainly they have one if you are claim any Child Benefit for them.

When you registered the child (if it was registered in this country) a few days later you should have received a letter stating their PPSN... if you misplaced it you can ring 01-704-3400 or you can email cis.support@welfare.ie

You need to give your PPSN, name and address and they will then give you the information...

our 3 children all born in Northern Ireland, but now living in the south, wife works in North, myself in south. Getting child Benefit in the south on basis of me working there

one of the children went to school yesterday and was asked for PPSN number to put on form for free school year, which we dont have for any of our 3 children

what should we do and what do we need?

It shouldn't be that difficult, I was given my PPS number within a few weeks of my parents moving from the UK where I was born to Ireland. Every time my mother had a child after that, a new letter was sent out with the new child's information and any older children's information as well.
