Am I classed as a casual worker?

    Ok here is my problem

The insurance company that I'm with for my mortgage repayment protecton cover has changed underwriters so I've been passed over to another company.Slight increase in monthly payments but nothing serious. They say they won't cover me if Im made unemployed if I was peviously employed as a casual employee.

I have been working for a company for the last 8 months and have only just recieved a contract to sign.In this contract it states I will be working 38.75 hours per week.
It also states that they can reduce these hours depending on the volume of work

Does this mean I am classed as a casual worker and therefor cannot sign contracts for mortgage repayment protection with the new insurance company?

Suppose it might be down to the company itself (or maybe a competitor)... how about ringing up as a new customer and tell them the exact situation you are in and let them tell you the exact answer.

End of the day they have those clauses in there to protect not only themselves but you... so if you do get reduced to 20h/week in a few months and you wont be able to pay for the mortgage... then you are going to be in a spot of bother.
I know we all say that it shouldnt happen to us... but thats how people get into trouble.
