Doesn't sound right no matter what way you say it.
Last year people used to say "Zero 10", incorrect of course but it sounded OK.
Saying "Zero Eleven" or "O Eleven" sounds wrong but so does someone saying "I drive an eleven".
There is no sensible way of putting it.

In other news, what's the name of this decade ?, The Teens, The 10+ ...

I find 'i just saw an 11 D Merc' or 'He has an 11 WX Focus' works grand. It conveys the message better than he has an 11 Focus.

This decade is called the tens. Simple as. Enough with this naughties teensies crap.

Have to be honest, I still say "oh eleven"
Will probably say "oh twelve" as well, but when it comes to the teens things'll have to change, can't imagine saying "oh seventeen" can you?

The Eleventies - Gonna be right up there with the Seventies brother.

I've never heard anyone say "zero eleven". How does that even make sense?

It's either twenty eleven, or two thousand and eleven. You don't need to have a cool, hip, totally rad name for each decade. Maybe this decade will become known as the decade when we stopped trying to call decades stupid things. Or maybe we'll realise in general that our insane compulsion to attach a buzz word to absolutely everything in daily life is annoying.

Agreed. And sure, when it's 2020 and we start calling it 'The Twenties', won't that get really confusing? Or will we have to say the 21st century twenties? In which case it's all pointless.

Why didn't we think about these problems in the 20th century?

I thought it was so retarded to call the last decade 'the naughties' ...

Well Time Magazine described the last decade as the decade from hell and judging by how the world is going I'd say this decade will be the decade from hell .... 2

That sounds as accurate as "the caring nineties" that was tried ,but in reality greed is good and all that is what the nineties were about the last decade was pretty OK till the crash in 2008

In the last decade most adults on the planet got a mobile phone

Were Time talking about the sweeping new powers that the patroit act and such like have given their government ? Apart from Congo and US inteventions it wasn't all that bad for wars compared to other decades. Measles was eradicated from the Americas.

I too would just call that "Twenty-Eleven." Might not be strictly correct, but a hell of a lot better than "Zero-Eleven" or "Oh-Eleven" which takes nearly as much effort and is completely, absolutely, totally, balls-to-the-wall WRONG. I had never even heard of it!

Could we not just refer to it as that crap year when everything went to hell in a handbasket and we all wish we could forget.

    Or even better, a onesie.

You do realise there was more then one 20s decade? People in the 1920s didn't get all upset about being confused with th 1820s. Same with 1990s and 1890s.

Oh, I do realise that. I wasn't forgetting about all the centuries gone before. However, it seems that in the 20th century, people became obsessed with labeling the decades 'the 20s', 'the 30s' and so forth. Perhaps this was the case in the 1820s, but I don't see a huge amount of reference in books written in the 19th century to 'the 20s' and so on. I could be wrong about that.

We could always start saying " I saw an Oh-one-one car".

Means the system would be foolproof for the next century or so!

It's the penultimate year. Roll on apocalypse.

Where do you get zero 10 and zero 11 from? We had zero zero to zero 9, never heard anybody say zero 10.

Even though it makes no numerical sense and I personally think "zero 11" is downright daft, there is a "0" before the 10 or 11 in the year : 2011
