I found Fallers in Galway lovely to deal with and a really good selection of rings.
A little further afield but Fields in Athlone - really well priced & good service.

CONGRATS! It's a lovely time so enjoy all of it!

I got my engagement ring in Cara Diamonds in Briarhill, found them very helful got a beautiful ring there and they got my wedding ring made at the same time so thats ready for me to collect when i need it, Plus my ring is valued at double what my h2b paid for it.

Very dissapointed with Fallers myself. Went in, picked a ring, assistant was perfectly pleasant, we paid.

When we came back to collect ring the assistant was unbelievably curt & brisk with us. Seemed to us as soon as we handed over the money that was the end of the customer service.

Have been wearing ring for less than 2 months and it looks like the white gold is already starting to yellow. They did say this would happen but said it after a year or two.

I keep meaning to take it back in to them but havent done yet as we dont imagine we will get any satisfaction after the poor service we felt we received.

    Congrats first and foremost,

If distance isnt too far, I used Pat McCallions Jewellars in Letterkenny, Co Donegal. Not only does he stock 1st class sparklers but also can have rings made-to-order, size is not an issue.

My fiance loves my choice and at ring size "i" , you can imagine it takes alot of specilist skill to mantain the quality of design.

I'll check later for phone info and email as my phone is not near me as i type.

    :)

many thanks for all the replies!!

have nearly settled on the ring, have seen a beautiful white gold round brilliant cut ring with channel set in cara diamonds but I have also seen a beautiful 3 stone white gold ring with channel setting in a jeweller near where we live (this is the one i love more)..

We happen to know the girl in the local jewellers and she said she would get a price for platinum as a comparsion to white gold ring,(.88 carat, g si1 €2300 before discount), she came back to say that if I wanted the ring in Platinum that they would do it at the same price as the white gold ring!!!

so maybe it pays to shop locally?? any thoughts?

Sounds like a great price. Be careful of the diamond cut and colour. Last thing you want is a diamonds which doesnt sparkle.

Diamonds-usa.com check them out,we bought a lot of jewellery of them in the past excellent quality and great customer service.
Most places in Ireland won't certify a diamond under 2500 so be wary of any place that won't provide a attestation to the diamond which is really what you are paying for.
Alternatively purchase the stones yourself as the setting can be sourced at a decent price or secondhand to be altered to your design.
