eBay accept responsibility in dispute

A lady in Texas opened a dispute with me claiming that the item was not as described .
She claimed to have returned item for refund , but could not confirm tracking number for successful delivery back to me .

eBay.com reviewed the case and refunded her in full .

Ebay accepted liability in this case . I wonder why ?

This is copy of what eBay said :
    Final decision:
Neither you or the buyer were found at fault.

    eBay Customer Support comments:
We're issuing the buyer a refund for this case. You don't need to do anything else. This case won't be included when we evaluate seller performance. Note: It may take up to 24 hours to update in your Seller Dashboard.

    Were you also refunded?

If so there could be many reasons why the buyer was also refunded.

If not, i would challenge why you werent refunded as the buyer needs to prove delivery in order to be refunded normally.

The dispute was opened by the Texan in eBay.com , so there was no interference with Paypal at all.

    I don't need a refund because i was paid as normal .

However , the refund to the lady in USA appears in my Paypal account now , but it does not affect my balance .

It states '' refunded by eBay ''

So basically you have the payment, and the buyer has also been refunded?

Perhaps this was an exceptional circumstance and/or eBay offered a goodwill refund then.

Yes , indeed Max - It ain't often that you will see both buyer and seller happy.

Could the buyer have used the eBay buyer protection ?

    I had the same.
Buyer claimed item was not received and opened an ebay dispute against me on ebay.co.uk. I felt that the buyer was lying and had received the item so i told him to open a paypal claim and i would upload the relevant tracking number as proof of postage which i didnt have as it was ordinary post. Ebay refunded him and didnt take the money from me.
I withdrew the money from my Paypal account before hand to see what would happen as it was only a tenner for an xbox game and paypal never charged it to me.
