Ok here are my picks for the week

    Donald 17/1
    Schwartzel 54/1
    Stricker 49/1
    Snedeker 94/1
Ogilvy 79/1 (think this is great prise imo)

    All BF prices.

Like the look of Harrington @ 59/1 (BF). Threat of dropping out of world's top 50 seems to be motivating him somewhat. Also, he has a fair record here. Garcia (65/1 BF) and Romero (110/1 BF) also appeal to me.

Though, IMO, can't see how it can claim to be the 5th major given that the World No. 1 has chosen to skip it in favour of other PGA Tour events!

I think it's a bit delusional jumping on the PGA tour bandwagon calling it the 5th major....

i expect a decent showing from Ross Fisher around the 150 mark,........my local bookie pays 6 places all tourneys but this week Paddypower are doing e/w top 6 for anyone who's interested.

going to pick out a few outsiders this week.Apart from Donald i don't really fancy anyone else at the top of the market.....am very interested to see how Tiger goes this week..i really think this week will define his season..might just stick a tenner on him for pig iron

Added JJ Henry @175/1 and Slocum @225/1

i'm going donald all the way. have a good feeling

Ben Crane has serious form here the last few years but is priced accordingly unfortunately.

Baddeley, Na and Sabbatini look like decent value.

I went with Adam Scott at 33/1 with PP. Paying 6 places.

He's showing good form, has previously won at Sawgrass and he's a new man since he changed to the long putter.

Outside bet on YE Yang at 100/1 just for a bit of fun.

doesn't have good course form but don't be surprised if he bags the e/w money for ya

went for Sergio e/w at 60/1 Zach Johnson at 66/1 e/w and Donald for win at 16/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭elbows666

Scott Verplank for me, reckon he will do a fred funk. 110/1

Could not believe Cranes price when I saw it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Going with Sergio at 66/1 e/w. Past champion, seems to have his game back in order and he will want contend for Seve.

Would actually love to see Garcia win this for the week it has been

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭dolally

Woods 14/1.. get on now. That's great e/w value
    Mahan 40/1
    Ogilvy 60/1

All e/w with PP 1/4 odds top 6.

Tim Clark @ 125/1 looks too good a bet to turn down. Was he out injured or something? No way should last years winner be that price!

Looking at Mcdowell at 60s too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

    Els (90/1) & Cink (75/1) both e/w with Bet365.

This is Clarkes first tournament back after a long term elbow injury. They weren't sure early in the week if he'd even be ready for this tournament.

I looked at McDowell at 60/1 myself. It seems a bit high but by his own admission his game has been pretty awful this year. He has performed fairly poorly over in America this year only making 5 of 8 cuts.

Have taken Villegas to return to real hot form here. A 4th here a few years ago shows he likes the place somewhat. 100/1

Adam Scott - he nearly paid off for me at Augusta and as a former winner and now with his new putter he is a serious player once again. 33's is great value

If you're a Tiger fan, you better hope this week doesn't define his season. He's +5 through only 5 holes and last out on the course, already 9 behind the leader.

    woods +5 after 5 holes :D

Woods pulled out after 9 holes while in last place with a score of +6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

TIGER WOODS has withdrawn. Not really surprising giving his start. His injury must have not held up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,936 ✭✭✭AdpRo

Done Bubba (50/1), Crane (28/1) & Na (80/1). Crane the only one off to a decent start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,028 ✭✭✭TheMilkyPirate

Backed matt kuchar e/w at 25/1.. Looking alright so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Looks like my bet has gone already. Sergio 4 over thru 9 :mad: 2 doubles on 16 & 18. Good man Sergio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

Harrington's long game has been way off today but he's holed some massive putts to get himself under par. Played the par 5s in +2.

Edit - so much for his putting...3 putt from 6 feet for a double. Back to level par.

good man Paddy, it was only a matter of time he made a balls of some hole and went backwards. He struggles with par 5's a lot of the time IMO

Amazing an injury flares up when he isn't playing well then again this is the same man who won the us open on 1 leg

In my opinion he wasn't fit to even enter never mind play. If Tiger plays ticket sales are strong, if Tiger does not play ticket sales and numbers through the gate are poor regardless of the other big name players committed. Tiger confirms he's playing a couple of weeks before the Tourney and sales of tickets are strong. Tiger shows up, plays 9 holes, withdraws and parks it until the US Open. The fans who bought tickets expecting to see Tiger Saturday and Sunday are out of luck. Look at the numbers today on the course on TV, they are very poor. You could walk around with ease last year, especially Sunday when Tiger WD and Tim Clarke won. The PGA and TV execs are praying Mickelson challenges to counteract the fallout from Tigers WD.

there is no way they will let the course be easy like that over next 3 days its watneys to lose he could still be leading when he goes out at 628 today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭TheGrump

I have Watney at 45/1 on betfair, lookin good so far :D
    i also had Tiger

On each way bets for golf, say the bookie will pay 5 places and then 10 people tied for second, does the each way pay out on all these or is it just the first 5?

pays out on all but you will only get a certain %.

e.g. if 2 people come 5th then you will only get half of what you would normally win.

but if you have 2 people tied 4th. then you will get your full amount.

So in your example you will have 2,3,4,5 so 4/5 of the price of the player but then divide by 10

Good round from McDowell in progress, -3 for his round and -8 for the tournament, 2 off the lead of Toms.

There are a lot of low scores around today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

Goydos and Stroud showing that they really are horses for this particular course.

Good shooting from McDowell, he was definitely over-priced at the start of the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

2 bogeys in a row from Harrington, 2 off the cut now.

add in a double now on 14  finally his wayward driving is costing him, he cant get away with missing 8 fairways and 12 greens in rounds and think he can contend.

He'd get away with it fine if he was just missing them, but he's hitting the ball miles off the fairway...he's Number 1 in Native Areas in Regulation for the week :(

Impossible to say, its a really top quality leaderboard. Set up for a great day of golf.

McDowell is really playing great stuff at the moment.

Is it me or did G'Mc just hit it in from 137 yards out for a birdie?,...

Looks like toms is going to have a 3 shot lead. McDowell in the water at 7, at watney dropped a shot the 8th....
