To crimp, or not to crimp?

Ok fashionistas, what do ye make of hair crimpers? I got one for Christmas and haven't tried it out yet, I'm not sure how to go about it without giving myself an afro! My hair is just about shoulder length and thick enough.

How can I use the crimper to my advantage? Crimp all of it and go for full 80s glam, crimp it in sections, or just leave it altogether as its maybe a little bit naff? :o

    Is it this style?

Personally, I don't like it. It's a bit old fashioned for me.

But if you like and your comfortable with it, go for it.

Yeah, I think it can look so glamorous but then again when I'm doing it myself at home with thick hair I'm afraid I might look a small bit ridiculous.

Someone recommended to me doing only some sections of it but I can't imagine that looking good?

Tbh I didn't even realise there were different sized ones! Suppose trial and error is best. Next weekend when I'm hungover I'll give it a blast and fire a pic up, ye can yay or nay it for me :D

eh, i may need to purchase a crimper and relive my 90s youth. i'm not sure how easy it would be to pull off a fashion forward look, but if your into quirky then sections of crimped might be fairly cool. i'm off to ebay now, i may be gone some time...

I remember crimping my hair when I was 16, I thought I was fab. I think it can still look great if you have loads of volume in it, á la Sonia Rykiel

These are more curled, but I've seen similar on her runway shows. My hair is too long to try these looks out :(

    good luck!

I think it can look cool but you have to be careful to do it stylishly. I think it can look lovely with tied up hair with the pony tail crimped or some sections of hair on their own. I think it's all in the style and how you do the rest of your look.

A few cool images here and on google http://weheartit.com/tag/crimped%20hair
