For anyone who's interested, (not sure if it's been posted already), www.veetle.com currently have a station that's back to back Royal Rumbles 24/7. Just watched '88 & '89 and watched a couple more from the 2000's over the weekend. Brings back some memories.

    Love you Wile :D.

Watching the Royal Rumble 91 now, just about to start. But I didn't know Heenan managed Mr. Perfect, I know Perfect was in the Heenan family for a bit but I didn't think he really managed him. Then again I didn't watch wrestling back then. What a waste though is what I was getting at, Mr. Perfect had charisma, and a solid gimmick. Heenan was amazing but he should have been working with people who couldn't talk.

Don't know why I felt the need to tell you all that but whatever :D

I know what you're saying - Perfect didn't need Heenan like, say, The Barbarian - but I reckon the characters were such natural fits together that it would have been odd to pass up.

Managers back then were different. Heenan and Perfect were a fantastic mix.

Heenans goal was to get the WWF title into his family, and went out to get the best talent to do so.

Larry Sweeney and Sweet N Sour Inc, in many ways, was a tribute act to Heenan and the Family.

I'd love a manager to appear like that again, trying to get all the titles into his stable and signing the best talent to do so. Such a simple but effective angle.

Doubt they'd let anyone that good appear as a manager ... would take away some of the spotlight from the fame hungry wrasslers :)

On another note, watched the 92 rumble earlier today (best ever) and I thought it was a brilliant spot when randy savage threw jake the snake out and jumped over the ropes after him .... don't know if this was a mistake on the part of the macho man (as that's usually how he gets out of the ring after an opponent), but straight away the undertaker can out after him to drag him back into the ring (took him a while too :D) while heenan and monsoon tried to explain that a person has to be propelled over the ropes by someone, if they go themselves then it doesn't count :D

I wonder if that rule still applies .... :pac:

^ No it doesn't. I think Kane may have eliminated himself at some stage.

They have been pushing a commentator for months and months! Cole's angle takes over most of the show now. So letting a manager have some screen time would be a lot less invasive than the Cole/King nonsense!

At least if Cole was a manager and getting talent over, there would be some point to it all. Instead Swagger occasionally appears and ends up selling for JR and the King!

It wasn't like that for the 89 rumble. When Jake the Snake was eliminated by Andre the Giant, Jake came back out and threw Damien into the ring. Everyone left the ring. Andre left by going over the top rope and eliminated himself.

I'd say it'll be back at some point, well hopefully it will anyway. Still had 5 or 6 Rumble's to go according to the schedule.
