As a developer my best guess would be somewhere in the region of 50,000 - 100,000. Still fairly small amount compared to the masses of Nokias dumphones but it's seeing big growth.

android is getting very popular these days, but most people don't know how to use it. I've a friend who bought a desire because it was "pretty" and she had no idea about the market or anything. when I showed her the level of customization on ny DHD she was thought my personal touches and features I had were very cool, but said it was far too complicated for her to follow the steps.

I witnessed a woman buying an iPhone and during the set up (in the shop) revealed she didn't have an email address.

Huge market, if Google's own figures revealed yesterday are anything to go by. It would be interesting to see what percentages are like, maybe the networks would give some info?

I got an Iphone for the wife - even that was a big step up from T9 texting on a Nokia for her. Iset up a load of useful apps but I don't think she uses anything that is not on the primary screen.
