    Hi,

Our College hillwalking club is trying to organise a weekend trip and we are looking for a location along with suitable accommodation for a group of 20 if anyone has any ideas?? Ideally it would be self catering, something similar to the IMC hut perhaps a bit further afield, but at the same time close enough to Dublin to keep transport costs down!

We won't have the bus for the weekend so accomodation would need to be within walking distance of hills...anyone have any ideas? Been searching all morning for somewhere suitable with no luck...

Try Mountain Lodge hostel on the southern side of the Galtees - It is set in beautiful forest about 2km or 3km from the main road and so is ideal - It sleeps 24, has LOADS of character (it was a Victorian hunting lodge) and you can climb Galtymore directly from the hostel. Lots of forest walks available too. Cars can drive (slowly...) up the forest road to the hostel, but a bus will have to drop ye at the main road and ye'll have to walk from there... Bring all your food and drink when yo first arrive, as the shop is a long, long way...

Try Meelmore Lodge in the Mournes, http://www.meelmorelodge.com/aboutus.htm You can walk out the back straight on to the Trassey Track to access the Mourne Mountains.
