KIA Sportage supply problems

Took a test drive in a KIA Sportage the other day. Really impressive car. However the dealer said there are over 35,000 orders throughout Europe waiting to be filled, and orders here will take over a year! The only way he can get them is through the UK where they are buying them off dealers. Even there they are very hard to find.

The car is a winning mix of attractive design, pricing and warranty. Euro car makers must be more than a bit worried...

wow, who would have thought a few years ago that there would be a waiting list of over a year on a Kia....

Always did like the design to the sportage.... never got to drive one...

Why not look to do a deal on the demo model with the dealer.....

My mate had agreed to buy one - was told 6 weeks, after 6 weeks was told a minimum of 5 weeks more, and not certainty on that either.

Cancelled his order and went for a Hyundai instead - basically the same car but misses a few of the Kia extras.

Felt very solid, 1.7 diesel is smooth and rapid enough, suspension and road noise well isolated (the speed bump test), driving position good. Really not much to dislike at all. Build quality seems excellent, tight shutlines, doors passed the 'thunk' test too.

Boot seemed quite shallow though, had a full size spare, if it was a spacesaver would free up a lot of room. That would be my only reservation for a family car.
