Well bare in mind, Croatia has mostly stoney beaches, not sandy. I loved Split, and I think it would be good craic to end inter-railing. Dubrovnik has a reputation for being beautiful but Split has great history as well. Zadar is also nice (but small), and has Ryanair flights home!

First of all, good choice, Croatia's a great place. I've been there a couple of times, and two places that are well worth a visit are Dubrovnik and Hvar.

You'll definitely want to check out some of the islands anyway and Hvar is one of the best know party islands.

If you're finishing your trip in Croatia you could go to Split, get a boat to the island of Hvar (short enough distance), spend a few days there, then get a ferry down to Dubrovnik, and after a few days there, fly home to Dublin with Aer Lingus. That ferry from Hvar to Dubrovnik takes about 6 hours but it's a lovely journey, you can lie out on top taking in the sun and the Adriatic scenery.

www.jadrolinija.hr is the ferry company, you can check schedules on there.

P.S. (If you're checking ferries from Hvar - Dubrovnik, Stari Grad is the town you're sailing from, not Hvar town)

    Any other questions, just ask.

I've never stayed in Split, just been there during the day.

I can advise a couple of places in Hvar if you like, and Dubrovnik too. In general in Croatia you can stay in privately owned apartments or rooms. Often there will be old ladies at the bus station/ferry port who will be offering rooms in their houses - this is probably the cheapest way of getting a room. If you take a look at www.hostelworld.com you'll get an idea of the prices of accommodation.

I stayed with Ive in the Orange Hostel in Hvar last summer. Nice guy, nice place. I stayed in Apartments Ivanovic another time, and it was really nice too, although a bit further up the hill from the town.

Croatia isn't what you'd call dirt cheap - it's cheaper than Ireland of course, but not the cheapest place in Europe or anything. I suppose it depends what you want to do, how often you eat out etc... there are always plenty of interrailing students passing through though, so it's not too expensive. If you're arriving there after 3 or 4 weeks of travel though you might be a bit tight on cash!
