Played today in the wind and rain. Played in Kanturk for Kenmare GC and lost 3-2 to Ring of Kerry.

Just wondering how other teams got on!

The final was mallow V blarney. Blarney won it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 243 ✭✭aubreym

    cheers.

thought blarney would do it. very strong when we (monkstown) played them in the semi.

anywhere online that has the results of the 5 matches for the blarney win?

Does anybody know if the winners of this competition or any other like it (like the Bruen,
or Junior Cup) at a national level get their handicaps cut at the end of it?

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

There used to be a set of fixed cuts for these type of competitions (depending on provincial, national, handicap cat etc.) but it all comes under the annual review process now (since the last few years).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,527 ✭✭✭BoardsMember

That's right, the annual review system. And what a system. It's a green light for all those clubs that want to keep their successful teams together year after year. The fixed cuts really are the way to go. In our place, lads get cut standard amounts every year for performance in Winter League, Golfer of Year, the various matchplay events, without any regard for how it might affect their chance to play in teams etc. I know most clubs are probably the same, but there are enough out there that are not so true to the spirit.

Great picture, 220 yards Tiger carry, 200 if you go at palm trees in distance.... I have frozen over that shot once or twice;)

Course in top notch condition, few new longer tees on 15 & 16 have made it harder and 10 bunkers redesigned with proper drainage/sand etc..really improves their respective holes...

greens in good condition ...just hope recent wet weather doesn't slow them down too much!

I won't be playing, too low this year...

Glenmalure going for 3 yrs in a row, not bad for a club with 50 members:D

Yeah the palm tree is the line , still a test for the nerves all the same as you say.
Was there few weeks back and was in great condition alright.
That's a good record for the club, what happened to the rest of the members, die of exhaustion ?:D
1st time playing in a Inter club comp so hope to enjoy it, gotta start somewhere!

Ah that's a shame and at the same time a relief!
Potential nightmare as ya be giggling to yourself watching the other lads knees shaking but ball could smack off the cliffs edge and into the sea and up to you then to try and get across and that could end up in disaster also :D

Well done to them, really enjoyed that experience today.
Got there early and watched loads teeing off on the 1st and 5th, those people living in the houses along the 1st fairway must have some amount of golf balls in their gardens, they were raining down on them :D
Went first and thankfully hit good drives on the 1st and 5th with loads watching, knees were shaky with all eyes on me !
Conditions got tough with swirling wind and rain at times but all in all a good day to be part of.

12 shots clear, sounds like it was a fun day for all. tees were a lot easier than I was expecting though.
