Look away from your keyboard. Now look at the title of this forum. Now look at the title of the page. Now read the posting.

Are any android phones known for battery life? All would be smart phones I would think, so they'd likely all have big power requirements.

I've the nexus. I get a day or two out of it. Don't think you'll get much better anywhere.

HTC desire HD is the king IMO.

    Beast of a phone.

    In my opinion

    1. Galaxy S 2 (Out next month)
    2. HTC Sensation (Out next month)
    3. Nexus S
    4. Galaxy S

As for the Atrix, some reviewers have said it suffers lag, also its a Phone/Laptop/HTPC hybrid and doesnt seem to be able to do any of the three particularly well. Its a nice concept but years off yet IMHO

Its great the way iphone users recommend iphones and never give any reasons why its better, other than, "because its an iphone"

Got the HTC desire S a few weeks ago must say its a great mobile. Battery well I charge every night but I would say fairy heavy usage every day and I would have another 30 to 40 % left at the end of the day.

I have the phone and it suffers no lag. The only complaint is the battery life. But u would come to expect that while running such a power house.

Must put my two cents in and say the Desire HD.... battery gets better with age and get well over 24 hours with heavy usage... great phone

Desire HD for me aswell. I love the big screen on it. Can't really fault anything about the phone to be honest.

Have the nexus s myself, Great phone, decent battery I'd get at least a day with heavy usage, also first in line for updates.

Battery life on the iPhone is generally better than the droids, reliably getting you through the second day, where most droids will struggle. The DHD is particularly poor, IIRC HTC ship it with quite a low rated battery, so combined with that great big screen battery life will be an issue. Realistically you will need to charge almost any smartphone overnight, or get a car charger. If you are not prepared to compromise on battery life, the BlackBerry is yer only man.

Had a play with a mates DHD over the weekend, the screen is impressively large but the phone itself is nothing hugely special. Pretty standard HTC Android Froyo with Sense. A great phone 6 months ago, but why would you not get the incredibleS or Sensation, at this stage - other than cost?

Amen to that! I miss being able to go 3-4 days without charging my 9700:(
Mind you I guess that was mostly because internet browsing is so fiddly and there are sweet FA decent games available, so it didn't get as much use as a droid phone does!

Try turning off 3g+sync etc on an android device. Just use it like an old dumbphone for calls only (and maybe mp3 player). You can get 5+ days out of it. I notice this when in UK, had to turn off data because of roaming extortion :)

Not trying to be funny but I'm fairly sure the iPhone and blackberry are not android phones.
What can't the desire HD that you want it to do?
Any half decent phone these days will do what most people want no problem.

Sorta defeats the purpose of having a smartphone i'd have thought. May as well get a cheap Nokia at that rate.

Seen people saying that they don't bring they're iPhones out because they where scared they would be robbed or broken. Ah landline would do the same. I'm sure there are android users who wont bring their phones with them either. Oddballs

Previous Poster has a point. You can optionally extend battery life if you desire

You get more battery life but less functionality. My N1 is probably 20% phone(calls and texts) and 80% browser/info point etc.I view it as having my laptop in my pocket, always on and keeping me updated on the world. If i turned off 3g and sync i may as well go back to one of my old Nokia's for calls and texts and not have to charge for days.

That's the whole point I was making. Android is not the smart phone platform with best battery life. BlackBerries are undisputed kings. iPhone tends to be a bit better, mainly because data connectivity, wifi, GPS are activly managed by the OS, with Android they are either ON or OFF. Hopefully this is near the top of Googles android "to do" list. Battery life would be greatly improved overnight.

The HD is plenty capable. I didnt say it wasn't. Apparently dual-core is the "must have" feature these days. Why would I recommend dated technology? The thing that gets to me with Android is how much users are forced down the google services path. I shouldn't have to integrate my life into Google just so calendars, mail, documents, etc work. Apple, Nokia and BB have done it better, IMHO.

Surely using iTunes for music on the iPhone is the same though if ya need to intigrate everything to apple. Don't get me wrong. IMHO the iPhone is grand I just personally think the desire HD and the Sammy are better than it. Honestly there isn't really much in the difference. Blackberry wouldn't even be in the running on my opinion but then again I never used one long enough to have an educated opinion on them. IPhones and high end androids in my opinion are more capable to do what most of us want with a phone so its all good. I still rate the N95-2 as possibly the best phone ever made. Still have 2 for spares just incase I get drunk and throw my dhd at someone again. Lol

Currently I have my mobile synchronising with my outlook on my laptop. I am looking for a mobile phone that has the ability to identify not only those entries that have as the name of the contact I am doing a search for but also can list all those contacts that in the Notes section I have for some of the contacts in my outlook data base. Clearly Outlook can do this when you do a search but my E63 Nokia can only search the name fields while the Blackberry Pearl can only search the contact name the company in which they work. Can anybody suggest a mobile model that has this extra search capability?

What? How does the iPhone manage those differently? Android only uses GPS if it's actively requested, it's not just "ON". How does data connectivity and wifi differ on the iPhone?

The iPhone 4 has better battery life than the Desire HD largely because it has a better battery (1420 v 1230 mAh) and a smaller screen (3.5" v 4.3")

Again, what? The iPhone uses iCal, Android email can be used with any provider (Gmail is the 'standard' app, but that's totally optional), and if anything, Google Docs sucks on Android, there is no good integration.

The only thing you need a Google account for is the market, but then, you need an iTunes account for an iPhone, and AFAIK, you need a Blackberry ID for BB services

With iOS Wifi, GPS, etc live in standby, only woken up when being used by an app. Once you close the app, GPS gets killed. WiFi is always killed on iOS (iPhone, at least) when the screen is not in use. JuiceDefender for Android is similar, but a lot more customizable and obviously not integrated at an OS level.

In my situation I have my e-mail, multiple calendars, notes, bookmarks, cloud storage, etc all working on my desktop. BB, WP7 and iOS can deal with many providers, each in their own way. To integrate satisfactorily with Android there is no other option, clumsy, difficult to use google services are the only real option. Even this is flawed, as only one calendar can be synced using iDAV, etc (I use a Mac, but it could just as easily be Win7). I want everything seamlessly integrated, that is the reason I have a smartphone in the first place, a phone should integrate with whatever ecoSystem the user has, not the other way around, IMHO.

That's exactly how Android handles GPS.

I don't want my WiFi to be switched off when the screen is, how would I get push notifications? On Android, if you want it to act like iOS, you can download an app to do it. On iOS, you have to jailbreak it to do it.
