hi, was wondering does anybody know what is the protocol regarding whether or not you can wear medals awarded to a relative on your number 1's?

Family MembersContrary to popular belief, next of kin should not wear the medals of a deceased family member.
Medals are decorations awarded to individuals in recognition of specific acts and service and
should only be worn by the individual to whom awarded.
The exception to the above is when the medal is awarded posthumously.
Family members of deceased members of the Defence Forces should only wear the following
medals when the decoration is presented directly to the next of kin.
    The Military Medal for Gallantry
    The Distinguished Service Medal
    The Military Star
    The Service Medal
    The United Nations Peacekeeping Medal

    So Say the DF.

You might be ok with the 14-15 star(are their others? Usually those medals were issued in sets of 2 or 3)

    I'd start with the RBL.

put his name regiment and number up and myself or someone else will help you get more info on him. you can try here for info http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14

you can pick up replacement ribbon for most medals , Irish and British , on ebay for a few euros.
