Late Late Show Viewers - How can we help?

Due to getting distracted during a channel change I ended up watching between 2 to 3 minutes of the Late Late Show just now.
    My God!
I actually felt it sucking the life out of me with its blandness - I felt myself losing the will to live.
Luckily I managed to summon the energy to change channels.
I understand that hundreds of thousands of people watch this every week.
And it’s on for nearly two and a half hours.
    Jesus Christ -2 1/2 Hours!
What can we do to help these people?
    Are they beyond help?

We need to get them to do a show featuring Religion. Then get that episode pulled. If that episode gets pulled them the whole show will get cancelled soon. And then, no more Family Guy Late Late Thingy.

yes it is great fun. makes the show bearable to watch just for the fun of whining about it and it's guests.

The Late Late Show has gone downhill considerably - the ratings are brutal and everyone I speak to that still watches it say they do so out of habit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,547 ✭✭✭Agricola

I think the reason the modern LLS is hated so much is because the show used to punch way above its weight in Gay Byrne's time. There used to be a caliber of guest on it years ago that wouldnt look at an Irish chat show nowadays. In the internet age theres no need for celebrities to come to Ireland to publicize themselves so we're left with the RTE canteen.

    Agree.

But I think the host also has to take some of the flack.

DLB is just not fit for the job. He is unpersonable and awkward.
I cringe when I think of how badly certain interviews with big names went. i.e. Juliette Binoche, Take That and possibly the worst Rhys Ifans.

People of Ireland, hang your heads in shame for the following reasons

    a) Ryan Tubridy is a millionaire because you continue to tune in to the utterly shyte line ups week after week.

    b) The perpetuation of this "habit" means continued exposure to Crystal Swing, Jedward, blind people who fall out windows, Neil Delamere, The Royal Wedding, discussions about online dating and the other heavyweight issues of the day.

The late late was ok back in the day but it should have been killed the night Pat Kenny first walked through the door. Gay Byrne was bad enough, but the Tubridy fella? Come on now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,163 ✭✭✭stargazer 68

Did you not appreciate the online dating segment?
The 2 fellas on the panel (that Breffni bloke and some dance hall singer) had never used online dating and the 2 women had used it for 'research' putting up fake profiles. Sure where else would you get such an expert panel? Unless of course on the Saturday Night Show with good old Brendan.
