Healthy recipes for a fussy eater

    Hi all.

First time posting in this forum so correct me if I am in the wrong place.

Currently doing Weightwatchers and trying to think of new healthy meal ideas is really hard.

I am a bit of a fussy eater in some respects, like I wouldn't like any beans (you know the type you put in chilli), i'm not that adventurous with veg (just your basic veg) and not really into creamy sauces.

I am sure there are other things but can't think right now. I have got a little bit more adventurous with some things but I am finding it so hard to think of new ideas and recipes to keep me interested.

Would love any suggestions you might have. Thanks.

OP you should probably post up what your daily meals are like at present.
What kind of food have you been eating prior to starting weight watchers.
Basic veg what do you mean by that, carrots, potatoes,?

    Thanks for the reply.

For lunch, I would either have a pitta or wrap with tuna, lettuce and tomatoe or when it is cold, vegetable soup and brown bread. Also had a pasta salad recently.

For dinner, it is usually chicken balti (that I make myself using Pataks curry paste), turkey stirfry, homemade lasagne, homemade meatballs and pasta, chicken and baby potatoes. Sometimes (but rarely) steak and roast potatoes. For veg, I like carrots, brocolli, cauliflower, potatoes, baby corn, peas, green beans, onions. LOVE garlic and I like chilli too.

OP have you had a look at the stickys thread on nutrition there are some really good posts on the type of foods one needs to cut in order to lose weight.

and this one is pretty good for some quick meals.

As regards sauces like pasta, curry, stir fry sauces the ones you buy in a jar are usually full of sugar, I used to buy pataks myself but the amount of oil in them just put me right off so now I just make my own.

Sauces for pasta are dead easy to make and you can just flavour them according to what you like, basic ingredients for a pasta sauce are onion, garlic, can of chopped tomatoes, then flavour with herbs like oregano, basil etc. If you want a more earthy sauce you can throw in some wine although this is probably bad for the weight watcher points!! I think judging by your meal options you might need to increase your fruit and veg intake, switch from white pasta to a wholemeal version.

How are you finding weight-watchers? Are you losing much weight on it? As well as eating healthy you also need to combine it with doing some activity a few times a week as this will help with the weight loss as well. Best of luck with it.

Yeah I know I need to definitely eat more veg, it is just hard to make it interesting. My plate is usually 1/3 meat 1/3 veg 1/3 carbs but I know half the plate should be veg.

I have half a banana on my cereal in the morning and an apple or kiwi.

At morning break, I have a yoghurt and fruit, usually grapes.

Yeah I am finding weightwatchers good. The weightloss is slow enough with the new propoints plan but it is better because you get to have more of a life. Losing around 1lb a week, have been up twice since November, once a lb and the other time half a pound and there has been weeks I have lost more also.
