€2000 to spend

I am looking at buying a new road bike and I have a budget of €2000 to spend. I bought a basic road bike 3 years ago for €700 when I started cycling and it has done its purpose and I feel like it is now time to go carbon! Any suggestions on what is the best value for the budget would be appreciated.

Canyon Ultimate CF 8.0 but in black is probably the best bike out there for €2000. I've built up a bike with last year's Ultimate CF frameset. It's lovely.

Thanks for the links, both bikes seem good value alright.
Another question, is there much difference in performance between 105,Ultegra and Dura Ace? Having a look around the internet, there certainly seems to be a huge difference in price, but is it really worth it?

There isn't a big performance difference, it is mainly weight and material finish. Ultegra is probably best value, often not much more than 105 but half the price of Dura Ace. Make sure you get the new versions (5700/6700/7900.)

OP. As you mentioned you already have a road bike. On that basis I would advise
1 think about what you like/dislike about your present bike.
2 does the geometry suit you
3 Do you want something lightweight or a bit heavier.
4 Do you appreciate stiffness as a quality in a frame.

These are IMHO more important that the group. You or a store will put whatever group/wheels on a frame.

2k is a nice amount to spend on a bike. Loads of choice in that range. So think about bike type.

I was in a similar position last year. Almost bought a heavily discounted Felt. But having done some research the geometry was not particular what I wanted. Also looked at PX and same applied.

Now you can amend geometry thru experimenting with saddle/stem. Butnice to get a frame that fits well as a starting point.

I would be having a serious look at this if I could get permission.

You would be able to get a hong-fu build with sram force/red for that budget and a set of carbon clinchers from hong-fu also. I only mention it because I am currently in the process of doing so myself.

The Omega-Pharma-Lotto team's sterling work is bigging up the ol' Canyon's no end.

Could do with a splash of colour, or more visual variation up and down the range, but you can't argue with the spec/price ratios

I found this on the internet, it comes in under €2000 including handling and delivery.
    http://www.agusani.com/products/Kuota-KULT-2011-Dura%2dAce%2b-Bike.html
I know there would be vat this side which would bring it over budget, but it still would be close to €1000 cheaper than if I was to buy it here with
    full Dura Ace.

I was also having a look at the Kharma with Ultegra, which looks great value.

What are people opinions on the Kuotas and has anyone any experience in dealing with Agusani.

KOM for just over 2k?? Seems too good to be true. Know nothing about agusni, but Kuota are riden by AG2R so they must be ok!

Indonesia? Hmmm... I'll let you try first.

I love that Cannondale too but then again I would owning a Six13. That Supersix 105 came second in the Bike Radar/Cycling Plus bike of the year IIRC. A frame worthy of future upgrades if down the line you wanted Ultegra or better wheels on it. If I had €2k that's what I'd buy without a blink.

BetterThan, try the angle of "so what's your engagement pressie to me" avec puppy dog eyes ;)

Talking her round to the idea of dropping 2600 on a TT bike last november means that I have zero chance this time round!! Pity as it looks the part and as you say it seems to be a very good frame as well.
