Sky Dish Signal Strength

Just got sky last tuesday and today checked my signal levels. There are just two blank bar lines one lighter in colour than the other but both have no markings, like 50% 25% etc so have to guess the exact levels.

I would say the quality level is at 20% and signal strength about 40%, is this rediculously low?

Or should I take this advice from a google search?

A good rule of thumb ... if the channels you want to watch are coming in fine 99% of the time, don't even worry about signal strength.

Different transponders carry different channels, so getting the best signal on any one doesn't mean a lot. Depending on your setup, there are a lot of variables, so it's difficult to guess what the specifics may be.

Take the advice, A sky box is rubbish at signal reading, shows misleading signal levels the first thing to remember is that the signal levels you are seeing are just for the one frequency, the Sky electronic programme guide frequency, you can watch any channel you like but the signal meter will stay the same and on the same frequency, if you really want to check the signal levels, either get a stand alone signal meter or a non sky, non freesat "bog" standard digital free to air satellite receiver, that way you can check each frequencies signal levels
But as previous poster said, if you are receiving , don't worry

But if you are having difficulty reception wise with some channels? post a list of the channels affected, weather conditions, what happens to the picture/sound e.t.c. then we can help you further
