    Its all but been confirmed that Obama is arriving on Monday 23rd @ 9:30am and departing sometime late morning on Tuesday 24th.

    So how easy will it be to get a good view of it arriving or departing ? Will the usual good viewing spots be closed off for security reasons ? I know these questions may be impossible to answer at this stage but just wondering if anyone knows.

    Any tips on where to go to get the best view of her ?

    Maybe in the ALSAA sports complex, depending on what Runway they use. Maybe there will be increased security here also though

    Dammit, im gonna be on earlies that week, tho depending on what rwy is being used i could potentially go to top floor of building and look out the back over the airfield. If my access comes through i might try and get out on the ramp to get a close up look (somehow i doubt it tho)

    Even if you get your nice blue badge (God I miss mine :( ) it'll be parked many miles from the atc boundary on a remote stand and nowhere near you ;)

    Hi Guys,

    new here - i´m from Germany and my first spotting trip from Dublin will be from 21/05 - 23/05. So with the Arrival of Air Force One this could be really great, or maybe really worse, depending if everything is closed down. So what do you think, will the Old Airport Road be open this day, or is there anywhere else to go ?
    Thanks,

    I wouldn't be overly fussed with af1. It's just a 747 with a fancy paint job. What I would love to see is whether it comes with fast jet outriders? Does it fly with two f22/15s each side? Where would they land? Am I imagining this amount of protection from watching too much Hollywood?

    Dammit!!

    But hey, if we're lucky the plane might get shot at over Offaly and Obama might land in Moneygall High Street in the emergancy escape pod. ;)

    What a photo op that would be eh. :pac:

    Was thinking about this;

    What is QEII coming in on? I assume it will be very very tight around baldonnell?

    More than likely one of these.

    BAe 146 of the Queens Flight. 32 Royal Squadron based in RAF Northolt, London.

    I doubt it there'll be much in the way of spotting opportunities around the airport. Based on previous visits there'll be Gardai and soldiers everywhere on the perimeter and you'll be moved on if you try to stop and take pictures assuming they even leave the perimeter roads open. Your best option will be under the approach path further out. Same with the Queen, don't even think of getting near Baldonnel on the day or Cork airport when she leaves. The ARW will there too inside the perimeter.

    So, did anybody get any shots of Air Force One?

    The lads did the best they could with the security restrictions and if I remember correctly it was very windy also that day.
