daily budget

Never been and was wondering what a daily meal and lodging budget would be for 2 of us, around the first of July, who want to drive and stay in rural areas such as Cork, Limerick and Galway. We like to keep it simple and we are not finicky.

you can get a decent lunch in most pubs in irish towns for about €10, most irish hotels/bars/pubs do lunches these days, its quite hard to get hot food after 3-4pm though unless in the bigger towns/cities like dublin, cork, galway, limerick

i would recommend doing a small shopping in one of the major supermarkets (tesco, supervalu, dunnes stores) or one of the german budget chains (lidl and aldi), any average sized irish town will have at least one of these stores. there you can stock up on bottled water (its about 40c for 2litres of tesco/dunnes brand bottled water) bread/cold meats etc, readymade sandwiches sold in irish stores are very expensive

expect to pay about €25-30 per person per night for bed and breakfast accommodation, in the smaller more rurals areas of ireland this is really the only type of lodging you will find, in the more touristy places you will be able to find cheaper hostel accommodation which can be hit and miss
