    1. How do I delete a viewed programme - options are save / copy etc but no delete.

    2. How do I check signal strength!

    3. In Other Channels, can utv etc be saved to favourites.

    4. Updates ~ will a msg flash up on screen like windows xp and/or just automatically install in the background.

    thanks.

To delete a viewed programe you highlight the programe on the planner and press yellow.

To check signal - services on the remote, then right to settings, down to where it says signal

You can't add favourites in other channels

Sky will generally do the updates themselves but you can force a update by doing the following

Take out sky card while box is on
Unplug the box from the wall

Hold the back up button on the box (not the remote) and plug the box back in at the same time
Wait 15 sec then let go, the box will take around 20 mins for the update

    Hope it's some help

The options you mention above are there when you have viewed the programme and then pressed 'tv guide' you'll see the programme is still playing in the mini viewer.
When you've finished watching the programme, hit 'backup' instead, you'll be able to delete it then.

Still have a prob with setting up favourites, went into options>favourities>highlight channel choice>pressed green to save.

Tried this several times and when I go back into tvguide, and press yellow button to view favourites, its empty:(

Favourites in above post sorted. (poor instructions on screen)

For example when watching UTV and during break surfing around the EPG with UTV mini screen showing...how do I get back to viewing UTV without having to search for it all over again. :(

Press the Sky button, question: why are you watching UTV when you can watch ITV HD instead? I never watch UTV,if I want to watch something on ITV(which is rarely) I always watch it on ITV HD.

Even if you don't have a HD subscription you can watch ITV 1 HD and BBC One HD through the other channels section once you have them added manually.

You can watch BBC HD on channel 143 without a subscription too.

I understand what your saying and thanks I just thought that maybe zerks
was suggesting that if I had HD subscription that ITV 1 might be viewable under all channels if my skewed thinking makes any sense. :p

Do any of the channels in the basic pack/variety pack and other channels have any Digital Text:(

Yes,most have red button function e.g BBC and Sky News. There is a text button on the remote so try it on various channels. The old format of Teletext is dying and most broadcasters don't use it anymore.
You can't view teletext (RTE for example) through HDMI so use a scart lead as backup if you really need to use it.

Red button functions won't work on other channels.

As an aside RTE on Saorview uses digital text and this will replace the old fashioned teletext completely next year.

thanks zerks I'm aware of most of what you said and looking at the sky hd box manual, it says that if a channel doesn't have digital text a msg will display to press tv and then text to divert you to teletext. (if you have scart conn)

My problem is I can't get any digital text (but haven't tried all the channels) The manual also says that the remote control has to be programmed for the tv to get digital text.

Only have sky about 3 months but would the installer not have done that all ready or is this an extra tweaking that has to be done.

Can you use the remote to change the tv volume? If so it's tuned into the tv.

If not press interactive and select 'help centre' in Sky Active then select 'Set up my remote'-follow on screen instructions to programme remote to the tv.

Only certain channels have digital text-Sky 1 for example, try that channel-you just need to press text and viola.

Analogue text such as the system RTE still use on Sky require you to press TV the TEXT to access it.Digital text which is used on BBC and Sky doesn't.

It's just a matter of playing around with it until you find which channels have which services.

yup the remote turns up the volume and everything else really. I'll check out sky 1 as you say and see if I can get anything first and work from there. tnx

Ok can get Digital text on Sky by just pressing text button, so its there anyway, but how comprehensive is it, or is it just being rolled out, mainly interested in tv guide or is it best just stick with the epg where available.

If you are just using digital text for tv guide, don't bother. The EPG is a 7 day guide, just press tv guide button and use coloured buttons to move ahead 24 hours.
EPG is available on every channel on Sky.Some channels have a great red button option such as Sky News,BBC,At The Races.

Channel 998+999 are handy channels for help with using your Skybox.
