    hi all,

This is probably a stupid question but i really dont understand tat/revenue stuff. I have been renting a house the past number of years and i decided this year to apply for rent tax credits.

So i did the paye online thing and it says for 2008/09/10 gross relief due in in each year €2000, so i was delighted thinking i was going to get €6000 back but checked with bank just now and got 1650. Is there something i have taken up wrong? im sure there is but could someone please explain?

    Really appreciate it

The relief is limited to 2,000 euro of rent, for which a credit is allowed at the standard rate of 20% i.e. maximum refund of tax is EUR 400 per year. It might be less in some years if you didn't have sufficient income to shelter.
