Part Time Job Initative

    Hi all,

I was working full time but in last year my hours have been cut to part-time, I am now in receipt of part payment from Social Welfare and I don't claim any rent allowance. Now it looks like my job is completely gone, fortunately, I have been offered another part time job, Can i switch part time jobs and keep on the extra Social Welfare money? Also wondering this new job is likely to have the odd week where I would get an extra day would that cut me off this scheme (Or would it just mean i would not get any extra money that particular week) - I have applied to do a masters next year and currently eligible for Back to Education scheme but wondering if every now and then I do a fourth day does that put me back to the start on my credits, cancelling my entitlement to the back to education?

    thanks guys

Are you on the PTJI? It's supposed to be for long-term unemployed but you've been working full-time. What do you mean you get part payment from Social Welfare?

A Masters course is not eligible for BTEA.

oh yeah sorry I must do a high dip first as a conversion course as short credits for the masters I want to do so I can claim for that year anyway. I was unemployed for over 12 months before I got that job and was only full time for less than month? Maybe that's why but yeah I am receiving PTJI, I also know changes were made to scheme in last year.

You can't work more than 24 hours on the PTJI, otherwise you are disqualified.. something not adding up for me. Maybe another poster can help
