    hi.
well for the last year and a half iv had this kind of money sitting in my account receiving no interest worth talking about.

i have had shares in the past and have made 450 euros out of them after commission but i dont fancy the risk of them now.

the only other thing i could think of was a savings account? AIB said they will give me 3% on my money but im wondering is there any other places out there that can give me a better percentage on 8000 euro?

apart from the savings accounts in the banks is there any other low or no risk places i could save my money?

    all suggestions very welcome
    thanks :)

You can get a market leading rate of 3.7% with Ulster Bank - http://www.moneyguideireland.com/best-savings-rates/fixed-term-deposits

You also get the benefit of less worry whether your bank will be shut down tomorrow.

Ulster Bank is offering 3.70% fixed for one year. Fairly decent for a minimum risk investment.

    EDIT: beaten

I thought I saw 8% for 2 years advertised somewhere recently? Id swear it had interest first or some other gimmick like that aswell.

Permanent TSB but €10000 needed and you have to lock away for 2 years.

    Regular Savings Accounts
    Fixed Lump Sum Savings
    Variable Rates

Stick it in a mutual fund and leave it for 25 years!

As long as it's not the next Bernard Madoff Ponzi Scheme.

Maybe buy the lows of the commodities correction and silver correction.
If you get off to a good start you might make some money on Silver ..try AGQ and ZSL depending on the way which silver price is moving.
