I dropped out of first year of college in February and want to do a course in university. I know i'll have to pay fees for first year but what if the course is a 3 year level 8 course? Do I still have to pay for first year?

Also, if i did a plc course that would qualify me for an exemption from first year, does this mean i wouldn't have to pay the fees? As I understand it I'll only have to pay for first year and then get free fees for 2nd - 4th so I think so?

    Thanks for any feedback

I dropped out of college in first year and want to go back but can't afford to pay fees. I was getting a full maintenance grant and I know that if I go back i'll have to pay for first year. If I complete a plc course that makes me exempt from first year, am I correct in thinking that I won't have to pay any fees at all?

    I appreciate any advice

I took a leave of absence from 1st year in November but I'm not returning to that course, I'm starting another one..hadn't yet received a grant so I can re-apply for that apparently. I'm really confused regarding tuition fees?..so difficult to get any information from the colleges :/ Anyone know anything??

Yeah you won't have to pay fees because the fees would only be for first year.:D you might have to pay like 300 for the plc course though and I don't think you'd get the grant for the plc course but you'd get it for the rest of your degree.I hear its really hard to get into second year with a plc though and apparently you can be at a disadvantage after doing that sometimes:(

Generally in cases like this you would have to pay the tuition fees for year 1

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

if you left after october 31st you'll have to pay 1 semesters tuition fees but after that you'll be in the clear:)
The amount varies from course to course but I know NUIG and trinity at least have the full list up on their website and I'd say most other colleges do too..!
