They kind of ruined the surprise by having the blu-ray logo and "Star Wars: The Complete Saga" on the banners for the page. It'd be a better surprise to be told that US special forces had shot an unarmed Jar-Jar Binks in a compound in Pakistan.

Is that the original making of specials? Good stuff! And the new "A Conversation with the Masters" looks good too. Shame it's only 25 mins long. I'd like to hear more from Kasdan.

Although I take it we have to buy the whole set to get the documentaries disc, right?

thats kind of a bit.. underwhelming.. who cares about the 501st legion? why is that 90 minutes when an "indepth" retrospective on Empire just 25? How can something be "indepth" if it's only 25 minutes? if i wanna see family guy clips i'll look them up on youtube..

Disappointing but not exactly surprising. I'll pass thanks George.

I presume the Blu-Ray won't be the original cuts?

nope, they dont exist as far as Lucas is concerned. he'll probably put some more stuff in there, I think Yoda has been cgi'ed for Phantom Menace, which I have no problem with as the puppet in that is absolutely godawful.

Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi (1983, Color, Apx. 48 Minutes)

Anatomy of a Dewback (1997, Color, Apx. 26 Minutes)

Nice to see these two on the set. I have the Dewback one on a PC magazine coverdisk but it doesn't even load anymore because it was made for Windows 95. So it'll be good to have another look.

It's a pity they didn't throw on "'From 'Star Wars' to 'Jedi': The Making of a Saga (1983) (TV) " which imho is a great SW doc (made at the time of ROTJ so mainly focusing on that). I guess they probably thought it overlapped too much with the "Classic Creatures" (and for all I know the 77 doc and 80 doc included was the source for most of it anyway).

+ I don’t think any of us were under the illusion that Lucas would remaster the original trilogy for Blu-ray. I think that’s simply wishful thinking at this point.

Sprucing up the films a bit here and there to clean up obvious flaws is one thing. But changing up the music, making Han shoot second, adding the Jabba scene, things like that significantly alters the film.
What was wrong with the original music?

This is just arbitrary stuff, and it just takes away from the original experience we had. There's a certain nostalgia associated with the original films that we feel we're being robbed of.

Wersa Jah-jah binks? Nice to see even Lucas has given up trying to defend that CG disaster.

thats out the same day as well, pity its not bundled with the boxset for completeness sake. I already own the bootleg of it but it'll be nice to have it with a proper lossless digital DTS-EX soundtrack and the art book looks lovely. Cant wait to hear the directors commentary and see the behind the scenes effects stuff.

Please tell me that's a joke. I thought all copies of that show had to be annihilated in accordance with the law against painfully bad television.
