Extended application deadline and submitting a revised job application

Does anyone know if it's possible/acceptable to submit a revised job application when an employer extends the deadline? In my case there was a discrepancy between the date on their website and the date on the form and now they've extended the application date to the one on the form. There's no factual changes to the form…

There's no factual changes to the form (as in I'm not fabricating jobs I never had!) but there is a 'pick me please' essay section I'd like to tweak a little.

It shouldn't pose a problem - just send it in and invite them to replace the old application with the updated one.
