Revenue Job Assist and Tax Credit Q

I recently heard about this tax credit you can get if you are 12 months continuously unemployed and then take up employment. Its worth €3,810 at either 21% or 41%.

So does this mean that the 3,810 is taken off your gross salary and therefore you get 730 or 1450 approx?

Another Q - do your annual tax credits apply in 12 equal portions or does it depend on how many months worked? ie unemployed from jan-jul then take up employment til december and into the future. Will only half the credit apply or will the whole credit apply eg 12 months applied over the 6 months worked during year?

    Thanks in advance

your Tax Credits are spread out throughout the whole year (Jan to Dec)

So if you have an annual tax credit of €3,810 then monthly it would be 3810/12 = 318.50, and you get them regardless of how many months you have worked before.

Its done on a culumlitive basis so for example if you were to start work for the first time in the tax year in july, you would start with 7 months tax credits (jan to july) and depending on your earings probably not pay and paye for the rest of the tax year.

regarding the higher tax credits if you are unemployed that i have never heard of, you would prob receive a stardard tax credit, unless you are using tax credits from a spouse.
