Triton T90i porblem?????

    Hi all,

Apologies if this question has come up before......

I have recently purchased a brand new Triton T90i shower and had it installed by a plumber.

When the unit is set to the coldest possible setting the pressure seems what I would deem normal. But when its set on the warm/hot setting the pressure decreases drastically. So much so that you would almost have to run around to get wet..........Not good.

I live in a hard water area. Does the high pressure on the cold setting mean that my feed pipe is unblocked and that the problem lies elsewhere?

The unit is practically brand new so the usual shower head limescale blockage problem does not apply.

I would call back the plumber but he has buggered off to Australia.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Maura.

    Ps. I smell pretty bad.

I suggest you call triton. They have a pretty good after sales service, and warranty if your unit is new. At least you can discuss your problem with one of their service engineers.

When you adjust the water to the warm/hot setting you are actually reducing the flow rate, the lower the flow rate the hotter the water.
What heater is in the unit ??? they come with either 8.5kw or 9.5, depending on your cable size at the shower your plumber may have only fitted the 8.5kw, not good!!

I like a dirty Woman, a pity I didn't marry one. It could well be an 8.5 kw shower which will give you a lower flow rate through the shower. I also suspect you probably live in a Bungalow and may have a long run from the Tank to the Shower head. Do you know if it has a dedicated Water supply from the Tank. All of these will contribute to the problem you having.

This is not correct sorry. You cannot drag 9.5 out of a 220 volt system thats why they are 8.5/9.5 you will only get 8.5 even in a 9.5

op i suggest you call triton. In all my time i have never heard of this. If its flowing on cold then it should be at a reduced rate on hot.

Have you tried the head settings to make sure the head is not to open... If that makes sense.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

The shower is definitely a 9.5. I know this as I purchased it myself.

Will give triton a ring on Monday morning and see what they have to say about it.

    Again, many thanks.

    Maura.

    e.

    wrong info joey - on a 220 v a 9.5 draws 43.3 amps - we on roughly 230 v ( mine on 236v) so that drops to 40.3 amps - so that's why a 45 amp breaker needed (as per instructions)

when installing a shower the electrical installer will/ should always do the calculation after testing with multimeter/ voltmeter as different supplies vary

Thank you. I am going by triton and the electrical forum on this. My point really was it makes no difference weather you buy 8.5 or 9.5. But i understand you perfectly.

Sorry to disagree with you Joey, But there is a difference between 8.5 and 9.5
If there wasn't what reason would the Manufactures make both. Also why is it that you have to wire a 9.5kw in 10 sq cable but 6 sq cable is adequate for an 8.5 kw shower.
But I'm always willing to learn otherwise.

why post then if you dont know what your talking about ? you are misinformed and add nothing to this thread if you are refering to other forums ,sure the op could have done that .all you are doing is confusing the people who read here looking for advice .

It was a correct statement, once again you jumped when you yourself obviously didn't have clue and confused yourself, lesson learnt?

Point taken as for contrabutions i did refere the op to triton. I promise you this changing the cable will not have an effect of the flow. So i am entitled as anyone is to contribute just as i am will to learn.

Joey - it has nothing to do with cable size you must be misreading or confused - you stated you can't get 9.5 out of 220

    All the best -

Have you checked if he connected it the correct water supply? T90s are pumped and need to be run off the attic tank, if for some reason he connected to the mains it will cause problems...

Who ever said it did

But you need to have learnt a lot on a topic before you can go around accusing others of posting incorrect info, Mod or not.

Post 3 and anyone has the right to challange information It happens all the time if you hang around you will see that and being a moderator has no bearing. Its pointless bringing that into it.

I think not. You did not challange you stated it was wrong. You are a Moderator on this board, for you to tell the op that my statement was incorrect when in fact you were not equipt with the no how to make your own statement has a big bearing, your words, those of a Mod are seen by some as being factual, you should do as the rest of us do, don't reply to posts we know little about, and if we do happen to misunderstand a topic, be big enough to appologies.

You clearly dont understand the roll of a moderator. I have no problem apologising its got nothing to do with being big enough its got to do with learning- For my misunderstanding i do apologise.. Going forward can you please leave being moderator out of this. Thanks

Not very constructive and it can be seen as bullying. Please dont do it. Even though you might think it right.
