I've got a really crappy VW Polo Fox.....when i bought it it was full of petrol but the other day i was running low and needed to buy some but the bloody key wont open the lock...well, it'll open it but the fuel cap won't come off....has this happened to anyone before? I'm going to have to rip the fuel cap off ain't I?

this sound like a funny post.. how many years do you have the car ;) when i bought it it was full of petrol... sounds like you just bought it and it needs a different key to open the fuel cap which the previous owner may have

sounds like you're not familiar with how to get the cap off, contact the previous owner. it must be able to be opened if there was petrol in it :D

If I understand you correctly, the key will turn in the lock on the cap but the cap won't come off?

:D yea i suppose it's funny to read it alright....naw I got it about 2 months ago and I don't really drive very much.....I've tried all the different keys that came with it and only one fits, it'll turn and unlock but the cap will neither twist off, nor pull off or if I press down on it nothing too. I've tried lubing the lock too but zilch. I'll prob have to buy a new can and then go to a mechanic and get him to rip off the one thats there.

I would contact the previous owner but I'm certain he doesn't speak any English  and I don't speak any German :( .....I know it has to be able to open but maybe the mechanism froze in the lock.....I live in Poland, so it was really cold until a while ago.
