My Mother in Law has passed away and we have decided to put back our Wedding until October. I am just so upset and couldn't even dream about marriage after she died.I dont know whether i'm coming or going!!Is 6 months time enough to feel a little less pain. We were due to marry on the 14th May,im so sad at the moment.I dont know why i'm writing here or what i'm hoping to get back from you all. Sad sad times!!

Sorry for your loss. It really is up to yourself really, I suppose everyone is individual. My own step sister lost her grandad less than 2 weeks before the big day, he was to giver her away. After deliberation she decided to go ahead as it was so very close to the date but she walked down the aisle alone rather than replace him. I have seen on another occasion a couple marry within a week of a parents death but also heard of couples put dates back because of it also.

I think you should sit down with the immediate family and decide not only what would make it easier for you all but also what she may have wanted for you both.

Again sorry for the loss, thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My own mum in law passed away suddenly just over 2 months ago & I don't think it has hit us yet really.

I think 6 months will be plenty of time. Much as you & your partner/his family need time to grieve; it may help having something to look forward to later in the year.
Particularly something that'll bring his family together under happier circumstances,

I think six months is plenty of time. Perhaps you could do something nice during the mass / at the reception in memory of your MIL? That would be really lovely and thoughtful for the family.

Yes something simple like a nice framed photo on a stand beside flowers in the church maybe. A recent bride of mine brought a photo of her dad along and held it for the family photograph.
