Bank holiday Pay

    have returned to working PT barman in sportsclub....worked yesterday and been a bank holiday monday do i get extra pay. Years ago when in uni i always remember getting a little extra but maybe these laws have changed....i had heard the boss is getting paid time in lieu but as a PT employee do i get higher rate of pay???

    basically for the day itself you are entitled to no more than flat rate however you are entitled to a public holiday payment which is calculated based on your earnings and hours over the previous 13 weeks.

    this can be given as extra pay for the day or as a paid day off within the next 4 weeks.

    most employers just pay it on top of your wages, however you have to quailify by working a min 40 hours in the previous 5 weeks
