i used biketrans before but that was when the exchange rate was £1 to €1 ish so it was really worthwhile. The service itself is top notch to be fair.

Just dont know how it could be cheaper to import a bike, pay vrt and buy plates, get it taxed etc. than buying one over here with the current cost of bikes.

Another issue is bikes coming over and it turns out theyre bogey. might be no harm to fly over yourself and drive it to the port.

I would recommend biketrans. They brought my bike from Milton Keynes Uk, and collected from ferry port in Dublin was 200 euro if I remember correctly.
    Ask them about that option.
    Good luck

Alternative is flight over (cheap, say €30/40), ferry back (£60, so about €75). Plus getting from airport to bike is probably another €20/30 on an airport express train (time being of the essence if you're trying to catch an evening ferry). Fuel from London to Holyhead, say €30, maybe more?

I'm at €175 euro there without even thinking about anything other than basics, plus at least a day of your time to get it done. What price the risk of breakdown, etc????

I've done this with cars a few times now, reckon €275 is decent but it'll always be cheaper to do it yourself.

€275 to haul it from one country to another, incl a sea sailing ? Expensive ?

A one-way sailing in a van is now GBP£260, btw - did one last week.........

How cheap is the bike that it's not worth €275 ? You couldn't get over and bring it back on your own time for that price.........

I used the guys in this add last june to bring back a bike for me from birmingham to donegal.

    http://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/96/73966796.html

there was no fuss no hastle and they were able to arrange pick up from the seller . The cost If I remember varies depending on where the pick up and drop off is but all done If I recall right it was 200 sterling for me & this was the handiest ( & cheapest )way to get the bike back. Had I went myself on top of ferry cost i would also have needed to hire a van

I bought the bike through ebay & was a bit nervous about the whole arrangement initially but it worked out very well.
