I've a Cleveland driver with an Aldila dvs 60 stiff shaft. I'm no expert on the tech side of things, just wondering what shafts are similar to that? Is 65g stiff a big difference

Very little difference between them shafts feel wise as the 60 & 65 stand for grams. So their is only a 5 gram weight difference between them.

But shafts of different weights and brands for that matter do act differently under load. They often have different torque (how much they twist). And also they can have different kick points.

I'm not too sure if their is a standard formula for what people should get as a launch monitor is needed to see what ball spin is like with different shots.

I do know that a low kick point is lethal for spin. Good if you need help getting the ball up in the air but it causes ballooning if your a fast swinger. I think most people use a Mid kick point.

I'm currently looking for a new shaft at the moment too. I was using a stock Ping shaft and it was 60g. So I consider a Stiff 65g + shaft a safe enough bet.

Ya it's all a bit confusing really. Not really looking to change but current driver is 10.5 degree, just wanted to maybe try a 9.5 deg to see if I noticed any differences good bad or otherwise.

What exactly is your motivation? More distance or high ball flight?

I would say the difference would be minimal if you were using the same head and shaft.Couple of degrees lower launch so in idea conditions it would go a little bit further.

The problem with less loft it it would put more side spin on the ball if you were not that accurate or had a slice to contend with it would actually make your drives shorter.

High ball flight is probably more swing/shaft orientated IMO.

The proper advice here really is to say if your wondering getting custom fit is the only way to go. I personally have never been fitted , chose a trial and error route trying out as many clubs as I could at the range etc so maybe thats your best bet. Usually if you are at the range if you ask someone for a few belts of their clubs they are very obliging.

p.s If their driver is white don't ask for a go ;)
