I have a few weetabix if I'm stuck. Other than that's its a bit of porridge and either boiled eggs or fried in butter eggs, depends on the gym and activity level ill be doing that day. A few blueberries a while later sometimes too just cause I like them :)

By the way I put some berries into the porridge too, I find goji berries pretty nice lately.

Pretty sure those mini weetabix are full of sugar. Just check the nutritional information.

If it's cereal it's probably full of sugar. Personally I still go for the protein shakes, only way I'm going to get proper breakfast in a hurry

How about brekkie in a mug?

Make Breakfast in a Mug in Just One Minute

Melanie Pinola — May is National Egg Month, but of course a quick hot breakfast is welcome any time of the year. This basic "egg in a mug" recipe has infinite possibilities. And it only takes a minute or two to deliver fluffy yumminess.

Basically, this one-minute recipe involves cracking an egg into a mug coated with nonstick spray, blending it with a fork, and then nuking the egg in the microwave for a minute. You can add cheese, bacon, vegetables, and other assorted flavorings as desired.

What you get in the end is a little scrambled egg sphere. Mugs are apparently the perfect size for cooking up eggs in the microwave.

If you prefer your eggs hard-boiled or poached, you can also adjust the cooking time to produce the right kind of egg breakfast for you. Answers.com suggests just poking the egg, covering, and then microwaving for 2 to 3 minutes to make them hard boiled. For poached eggs, pour 1/3 cup of water in, break 2 eggs into the container, and cover and cook for 1.5 to 2 minutes. These suggestions were based on using a bowl, so your timing/measurements for using a mug as the container may vary.

This is the quickest way to make a hot breakfast that I've seen, short of preparing steel-cut oats in jars for a whole week in 5 minutes.

For much more eggy goodness, see: how to make perfectly boiled eggs, use your oven to bulk cook hard-boiled eggs, Gordon Ramsay's demonstration of the perfect scrambled egg breakfast, how to fry a perfect egg, how to make a perfectly poached egg, and many other cooking hacks. Those should help get you through National Egg Month at least.

What's your favorite way to quickly make eggs in the morning?

Not too sure how healthy it is though...........I'm sure adding cheese and bacon would rule that out! :pac:

I've recently switched from porridge to a protein shake and a tablespoonful of natural peanut butter. It's very quick, you get your protein and good fats and I'm loving the peanut butter - bought a 1kg tub of it.

I may switch back to porridge when I'm bulking... we'll see!

I would of thought shake and peanut butter would be better for bulking?

Higher cals/g and pretty easy to get into you. It should be easier to get X no of cals in with shake and peanut butter imo.
    As i missing something?

    Per 37.5g/%

    Energy (Calories) 127kcal
    Protein 4.3g/11.5%
    Carbohydrate 25.7g/68.4%
    (of which sugars) 1.7g/4.4%
    Fat 0.8g/2%
    (of which saturates) 0.2g/0.6%
    Fibre 3.8g/10%

Not that bad at all really.
I imagine other varieties are worse

cheers and have been adding in 4 scoups of whey protein when blending for a while now and it tastes delish.

Added in a half cup of coconut milk to my last batch also and tasted amazing.

I always try to do something a little different in each batch

I think you are probably correct - I'm just a newbie to nutrition.

However, I only eat a small amount of peanut butter so, calorie wise, it should be similar to a medium sized bowl of porrige.

It's the macros that I think may be better for weight loss - protein and good fats as opposed to carbs.

Thanks, will try that the next time I make a batch.

For me, they really fill the niche of a healthy snack and a great way as well to get some quality food into your diet. Typically just go with walnuts rather than mixed nuts myself but must try out the whey protein at some point.

Research conducted on wheat has found that on average there is 9mg of rat faeces in every 450g of wheat grain.
Not only are wheat fields ideal environments for rats, the silos the wheat is kept in after harvest seem to be even more to the rats liking.

Just a thought - don't mean to put anyone off their breakfast.

    Porridge, yer only man!!!!!

vary up the nuts to use just purely from a 'don't want to develop a nut allergy' from using the same nut all the time point of view

Is breakfast necessary? Is it ok to skip it altogether?

It's defo good foe cutting, as you said protein and good fats. My cut brekkie is eggs. Can't have peanut butter and i just get addicted to it.

But its pretty good for bulking too, to be hoenst, what I'd really consider would be bowl of oats, scoop of whey and a dollop of peanut butter.
Get all three macros into you - and tasty too

Reasearch also shows that your toothbrush is contaminated with fecal bacteria more than any other kind, don't want to put you off brushing your teeth or anything, jsut saying.
