I bought a All for one aeriel in order to get high quality RTE and it worked great. When I went to hook up my DVD recorder I couldn't get any of the high qulaity channels to play through it. When I plugged the aeriel from the wall back in, the DVD recorder picked up the channels no problem

    Any Ideas?

I'm no expert but it sounds like your DVD recorder only has an analogue tuner, not a digital tuner.

Why are you using an indoor aerial when you already have a signal available 'from the wall'?

Is there already a roof aerial, did you want the indoor one for another room?
Also what part of the country are you in?

What do you mean by high quality RTÉ? Are you referring to the Saorview digital channels or the analogue channels?

Are you saying when you connect the All-for-one aerial directly to the TV it works OK but when you loop it thru the DVD recorder you lose the channels on the TV?

If this is the case it appears that the signal from the All-in-one as it passes thru the DVD recorder is attenuated (weakened) so much so that by the time it reaches the TV the signal strength is too low.

You don't say what the wall socket is connected to, UPC cable connection or external/attic aerial?

The signal strength from an external or attic aerial will generally be superior to an internal aerial and would compensate for the reduction of signal strength thru the DVD recorder.

I mean the digital channels. When I loop the All for one through the recorder I can still watch the digital channels on my TV but I can't record them since the DVD recorder will only tune in the analogue stations

I'm using this aeriel because the picture is perfect when compared to the roof antenna

    Thanks for the clarification.

The roof aerial should be giving you equal or better signal compared to the internal aerial.

Where are you located? Did you receive analogue TV3/TG4 via the external aerial previously? Is your external aerial VHF only? Is it pointing at a non-Saorview transmitter? Or some other fault?

You cant record them because your DVD recorder does not have a saorview compatible tuner..
is there a way of outputting the decoded signal from the tv?
